In the context of green transformation becoming a global trend, many localities in Vietnam are making efforts to restructure the industry in an environmentally friendly direction. As the economic - tourism center of the South Central region, Khanh Hoa is gradually shaping a green, circular industrial development model, both attracting investment and ensuring sustainable development goals. Not only stopping at expanding infrastructure, the province also aims to create a clean production ecosystem, encouraging businesses to apply ESG (Environment - Society - Governance) standards to meet new requirements of the global supply chain.

The formation of green industrial clusters and zones like Dien Tho VCN is not just the story of a single project, but is part of Khanh Hoa province's overall strategy for sustainable industrial development in the period 2025 - 2035. According to the direction of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee, Khanh Hoa will prioritize building a green - circular industrial ecosystem, taking high technology, clean production and using renewable energy as pillars.

From logistics centers in Cam Ranh, Suoi Dau Industrial Park to industrial clusters in Dien Khanh, Ninh Hoa, Khanh Hoa province, businesses are encouraged to apply energy-saving technology, waste recycling, and circulating water treatment. The model of “smokeless industrial cluster”, in which solar energy, recycled water treatment and green transportation are applied synchronously, is gradually becoming the new standard in planning.

According to the Khanh Hoa Department of Industry and Trade, in the period of 2025 - 2030, the province aims for at least 60% of industrial parks and clusters to apply the ISO 14001 environmental management system, and at the same time develop at least two industrial parks that meet the "Eco-Industrial Park" standards according to the guidance framework of the Ministry of Planning and Investment .

Currently, Khanh Hoa considers carbon emission reduction an important measure of industrial competitiveness. Along with encouraging businesses to invest in rooftop solar power, wind power and heating systems, the province is coordinating with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to develop a clean energy map, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050.

Several seafood, textile and construction material processing enterprises in Ninh Hoa and Cam Ranh have begun implementing green production chains by replacing fossil fuels with biomass, utilizing waste as input materials, and applying digital technology to monitor energy consumption. These models not only reduce operating costs but also open up export opportunities to markets with high environmental standards such as the EU and North America.

Khanh Hoa aims to have green industry account for at least 45% of the province’s industrial production value by 2030, with high-tech industries, new materials, and clean agricultural and aquatic product processing playing a key role. Along with that, the province will perfect the green supply chain, from raw materials, production to logistics and product consumption.

The province’s current investment incentive policies focus on businesses with clear ESG commitments, using renewable energy, recycling waste, or converting production models to international standards on environmental management. The formation of a network of green businesses linked in industrial clusters such as Dien Tho, Suoi Dau, Ninh Tinh will be an important foundation to help Khanh Hoa become the green industrial center of the South Central region.

The green industry development strategy not only aims at GDP growth but also aims to preserve the coastal ecosystem, headwater forests and water resources of Cai River and Dinh River, which are important natural assets of Khanh Hoa. By synchronizing infrastructure, energy and environment planning, the province is building a harmonious development model between industry - tourism - ecology, in which green industry becomes the fulcrum to ensure balance and sustainability.

With a new approach, Khanh Hoa is clearly demonstrating its determination to transform its growth model from “brown” to “green”, taking technological innovation and environmental governance as the driving force. This is not only an inevitable trend, but also a way for the locality to improve its competitiveness, attract international investment and contribute to fulfilling Vietnam’s commitment to reduce net emissions by 2050.
