The 12th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Open Table Tennis Tournament 2025 was a great success!

Attending the event were Vice President of Vietnam Digital Communications Association, former Permanent Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association Ho Quang Loi; Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hanoi City Party agencies Pham Thi Nguyen Hanh; Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Moi Newspaper, Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament Nguyen Minh Duc and the Editorial Board of Hanoi Moi Newspaper; General Director of Vietnam Economic Magazine, Vice President of Hanoi Table Tennis Federation Dao Quang Binh; sponsors, athletes and many fans.

On the afternoon of November 9, all attention was focused on the final matches in the men's amateur team and advanced team events.

In the advanced men's team event, there was a confrontation between the Astronomy Club and Team SBTC Club. In the first match, Nguyen Thanh Luan - Nguyen Thanh Nam (Astronomy Club) met Nguyen Hoang Lam - Tran Manh Cuong (Team SBTC Club). Notably, Hoang Lam and Manh Cuong are members of the Vietnam national youth team; in which, Hoang Lam won the gold medal at the Southeast Asian Youth Championship. Meanwhile, Thanh Luan and Thanh Nam are former Army players, having won many national and international titles. The match was tense and dramatic. As a result, Nguyen Thanh Luan - Nguyen Thanh Nam won 3-1.

The second match was between Nguyen Duy Phong (Team SBTC Club) and Pham Thanh Son (Astronomy Club). Duy Phong is a national youth team player, currently in the main squad of the Hai Phong men's table tennis team - the successor of his senior Nguyen Duc Tuan. Pham Thanh Son is a former player of the People's Public Security team, having won medals in many national and international tournaments. The two players competed on equal footing. As a result, Duy Phong's youth helped him win 3-1 against Thanh Son.

The third match was between Tran Manh Cuong (Team SBTC Club) and Nguyen Thanh Nam (Thien Van Club). Tran Manh Cuong is a member of the national youth team, currently playing for the CAND T&T team; while Nguyen Thanh Nam is a former Army athlete, now playing for the Dong Nai Club. The two players are highly skilled, possessing tricky shots. As a result, Tran Manh Cuong won 3-2 against Thanh Nam.

True to the nature of a final, the competition in the advanced men's team category lasted 3 hours and 45 minutes. In the end, Thien Van Club (Hai Phong) excellently won a narrow 3-2 victory over Team SBTC Club.

In the final of the amateur men's team event, there was a competition between Cau Giay Ward Club and Nghia Do Ward Club. These are two strong clubs in the capital, having trained many highly skilled athletes. The matches were exciting and interesting. In the end, Nghia Do Club won 3-0 against Cau Giay Club.

Sharing his feelings after winning the advanced men's team event, athlete Doan Hong Bao An (Thien Van Club - Hai Phong) said: "I am very happy that my team won the championship. To get this result, my teammates and I overcame many difficulties, including injuries. However, the spirit of solidarity helped the whole team overcome everything to win the championship."

Athlete Nguyen Thi Mai Phuong (TH Cung Thieu Nhi Table Tennis Club) - the under-45 women's singles champion - shared: "This is the third time I have participated in this tournament. This year, there were many strong opponents with relatively equal skills, so I feel lucky. I am very happy to have won the first championship in my career."

Affirming the attractiveness of the tournament

At the end of the finals, the closing ceremony and awarding of trophies and medals of the 12th Hanoi Open Club Table Tennis Tournament, Hanoi Moi Newspaper Cup - 2025 took place solemnly.

This year's tournament has the participation of nearly 400 professional and amateur players from 80 units in the following provinces and cities: Vinh Long, Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong, Da Nang, Nghe An, Hung Yen, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong... showing the attractiveness of the tournament. Notably, this year's tournament witnessed the participation of many faces participating for the first time. For example, tennis player Nguyen Thi Mai Huong (Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports) won the bronze medal in the women's doubles over 45 years old in her first time participating in the tournament.

Having followed the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Table Tennis Tournament for many years, Mr. Bui Van Phuc (64 years old) from Hai Phong shared that this year he still "braved the rain" to Hanoi to watch the matches. According to him, the tournament was very successful, the matches were as exciting and dramatic as the national finals. As a passionate audience of table tennis, Mr. Phuc also set up a table tennis club at home and spent time training and passing on his passion to children around the neighborhood.

Also a table tennis enthusiast, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong (90 years old) from Ho Chi Minh City said that every year he goes to Hanoi to watch the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Table Tennis Tournament. Witnessing the exciting competitions of the athletes, he feels like he is young again: "I will go to Hanoi to attend the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Table Tennis Tournament for many more years."

After days of exciting competition, the 12th Hanoi Moi Newspaper Open Table Tennis Tournament 2025 has ended successfully in terms of expertise. The opinions and enthusiastic sharing from athletes and fans will be the motivation for the Organizing Committee to maintain and continue to improve the tournament, bringing exciting festivals to table tennis in the capital as well as the whole country.
