Hoai Duc commune was established on the basis of merging the entire natural area and population of the communes: Di Trach, Duc Giang, Duc Thuong; most of the natural area and population of Tram Troi town, Kim Chung commune; part of the natural area and population of Tay Tuu ward (old Bac Tu Liem district), Tan Lap commune (old Dan Phuong district). With a total natural area of 16.73 km2, a population of 69,239 people, Hoai Duc commune is not only an administrative aggregation, but also carries great expectations of a land of "convergence and breakthrough", rich in cultural identity.

Merging administrative boundaries, Hoai Duc commune inherits the achievements of new rural construction of some old localities such as: Tan Lap commune is recognized as a model new rural area in 2023 in two fields: Education & Training and Health; Di Trach commune meets advanced new rural standards in 2023; Kim Chung commune and Duc Thuong commune are recognized as a model new rural area in 2024.

Hoai Duc area is an important nucleus of the expanded urban space, directly connected to new urban areas, Hoa Lac high-tech park, logistics centers and regional connecting routes of the capital, creating favorable conditions for the development of urban trade - services, clean industry, logistics services and modern cultural - social institutions.

Thanks to that, Hoai Duc commune has become a typical transitional area between traditional rural areas and modern urban areas. Typically, in Duc Thuong and Duc Giang, there are many ancient villages that still preserve traditional customs and beliefs such as worshiping the village's tutelary god, organizing village festivals, and commemorating the ancestors of crafts, demonstrating a long-standing cultural identity. At the same time, new urban areas in Kim Chung, Di Trach, and Tram Troi are forming a dynamic, modern, and civilized lifestyle. This form creates a strong connection for Hoai Duc, with a diverse cultural and social identity.

In recent years, with the goal of building a new rural area, the "appearance" of Hoai Duc commune has changed a lot, but still retains its traditional cultural traditions, contributing to strengthening community cohesion and preserving national identity.

In the area, there are still many historical and cultural relics such as Di Trach temple, Duoi communal house, Di Trach communal house, Linh Tien Quan pagoda, Cao Xa communal house, Dien Phuc pagoda, Luu Xa communal house, Luu Xa pagoda, Lung Kinh communal house, Lung Kinh pagoda, Dai Tu communal house, Dai Tu pagoda, Dun communal house, Lai Xa pagoda, Yen Be - Yen Vinh communal house, Giang Xa pagoda (Bao Phuc Tu), Giang Xa communal house, Giang Xa temple - are relics that have been ranked at the national level. This is also a place for spiritual activities and traditional festivals and ceremonies. Traditional customs such as weddings, New Year's celebrations, death anniversaries, and worship are still maintained in the local community. In addition, village festivals and folk games such as palanquin processions and tug of war still take place every year, attracting the participation of many generations, creating a unique and sustainable cultural space.

On the other hand, the inter-village roads and alleys are all concreted, asphalted and beautifully planted with flowers to serve the travel and trade needs of the people. The village roads are clean, covered with shady trees, and each section of smooth concrete road allows people to walk leisurely.

To have the appearance as it is today, Hoai Duc people have persistently accompanied the government for many years in building the new rural program. 100% of the commune, inter-commune, and inter-village roads have been concreted or paved; the lighting system is everywhere; the medical station meets standards; 98% of households have access to clean water. All criteria of the advanced new rural area are closely linked to the urban development orientation.

High-tech agricultural production associated with experiential tourism

Currently, Hoai Duc commune has 2 industrial clusters that gather many businesses, creating jobs for thousands of workers, namely Di Trach industrial cluster and Lai Xa industrial cluster.

In the future, Hoai Duc commune is expanding to a new direction, developing small and medium-sized industry and handicrafts. Some areas such as Duc Thuong and Duc Giang still maintain wood production facilities, civil carpentry, mechanical welding, metal processing and garment, contributing to creating jobs for local people. In addition, mechanical workshops, warehouses, warehouses and logistics services are increasingly developing, especially concentrated along major routes such as the border areas between Di Trach, Kim Chung and Xuan Phuong.

In terms of agriculture, orchards laden with fragrant fruit, hundreds of hectares of ponds and aquaculture lagoons applying high technology, imbued with the "breath" of craft villages growing fruit trees according to VietGAP standards, OCOP products... are bringing abundant economic benefits.

With a high-tech agricultural model, Hoai Duc has the potential to develop agricultural tourism combined with sightseeing, learning and consumption. Visitors coming here will learn about historical relics, immerse themselves in the cool green nature, experience craft villages, ecology, feel the peace, simple but profound beauty of this land. This place is also an important connection point in the development orientation of the suburbs of Hanoi, with increasingly complete infrastructure, convenient transportation, and modern life infiltrating every alley.
