General Department of Politics: Opening of the 2025 military music composition camp

On the afternoon of November 10, in Tuyen Quang, implementing the direction of the General Department of Politics (GDC) of the Vietnam People's Army, the Military University of Culture and Arts (UAC) - the permanent unit promoting music composition in the Army, held the opening ceremony of the Army-wide Music Composition Camp on the theme of the Armed Forces and Revolutionary War in 2025.

Colonel, PhD, People's Artist Nguyen Xuan Bac, Vice Principal of the Military University of Culture and Arts, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Creative Camp chaired the opening ceremony.

Attending the opening ceremony were Major General, musician Nguyen Duc Trinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association; Colonel Ngo Thanh Khien, Reporter of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Head of the Reporter Department, Propaganda Department (General Department of Politics ). Also attending were delegates from the Political Department of Military Region 2; the Military Command of Tuyen Quang Province; the Border Guard Command of Tuyen Quang Province; the Military University of Culture and Arts; the Ethnic Arts Troupe of Tuyen Quang Province, and musicians who were inmates of the composition camp.

The composition camp is a practical activity, creating conditions and motivation for musicians inside and outside the Army to compose high-quality works on the theme of armed forces and revolutionary war, vividly reflecting the noble image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the new period, improving the spiritual and cultural life of soldiers, and actively contributing to the development of Vietnam's revolutionary music.

The composition camp has 45 participants who are musicians and art cores at agencies and art units inside and outside the army. The composition camp is divided into 3 phases: Phase 1 (from November 10 to 15): Opening, organizing composition activities, penetrating the reality of the units; seminars, exchanging and introducing topics; Phase 2 (from November 17 to 30): Musicians compose and complete works at the unit; Phase 3 (expected from December 1 to 20): The organizing committee synthesizes, evaluates, stages and organizes propaganda to promote the compositions.

In his speech, Colonel Nguyen Xuan Bac emphasized that composing and promoting music is an important activity in the key cultural, literary and artistic activities of the Ministry of National Defense ; a spearhead, an important sound forum on the ideological and cultural front of the Party in the Army. In recent years, many music composition camps have been organized throughout the army. Hundreds of high-quality musical works have been created, staged, performed, and widely spread throughout the army and people of the whole country, many of which have won high awards from the Party, the State, and the Army.

Colonel Nguyen Xuan Bac hopes that through this field trip, the musicians will be closer to the daily life, training, and work of officers, soldiers, and people, and will be able to research and compose many new, emotional, and creative works.
