The contest was launched by the Ministry of Public Security and the Vietnam Writers Association on December 1, 2022 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam People's Public Security (August 19, 1945 / August 19, 2025); 20 years of the National Day for National Security Protection (2005 - 2025), towards welcoming the 14th National Party Congress.

Over the past three years, the Organizing Committee has received 140 works, of which 47 were finalists and 34 won prizes. Of which, the Novel category has 3 A prizes including: “Doi mat” by writer Pham Quang Long; “Chieu qua thi tran” by writer Nguyen Thu Hang; “Gio van bong qua rung troi troi” by author Duong Binh Nguyen. The work “Co xanh doi the steel” by writer Tong Phuoc Bao won A prize in the Story and memoir category.

The Organizing Committee awarded the prizes of the 5th Novel, Story and Journal Writing Contest on the theme "For National Security and Peaceful Life", period 2022 - 2025 to the authors.

According to the Organizing Committee, the entries this time vividly expressed current and hot issues of social life; clearly depicted silent feats, fierce struggles with crime, touching stories about the sacrifices and dedication of police officers in everyday life. Writer Nguyen Binh Phuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Writers Association , Chairman of the Final Jury commented: “The quality of this contest is relatively high, especially in the novel genre. Although it is a creative genre, many entries have made a strong impression, creating emotions for readers, giving readers the feeling of going beyond the boundaries of writing to approach the authenticity and liveliness of reality”.

Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Tran Cao Kieu, Deputy Director of the People's Public Security Communications Department, Head of the Standing Committee of the contest, shared: “In the 3 years of implementation, we have organized 3 literary writing camps in Quang Ninh, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Ninh Binh. Three localities - three lands rich in tradition, each place is associated with special marks of the country, of the people, and of the police force in each revolutionary period of the country. At these writing camps, writers can directly go to the field, meet, talk, listen to ordinary but extraordinary stories of the officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security; witness with their own eyes the efforts, hardships, and silent sacrifices in each task of protecting security and order, fighting against crime, and keeping peace for the people. The goal of the Organizing Committee when implementing the writing camps is to connect writers and real life, so that each story is not only a product of imagination, but also carries the breath of reality. moving, from the truth, from real emotions. Through that, the works are no longer dry fictional stories, but become lively, close to real life. Each Creative Camp is not only a place to sow the seeds of writing, but also a meeting between the heart of the artist and the heart of the soldier, between literature and the reality of life.
