What does the international media think about Huong Giang at Miss Universe 2025?

This year's contest officially started on November 2 and is expected to end on November 21 in Thailand, gathering 123 contestants from around the world .

Huong Giang is the only transgender contestant and is also among the oldest contestants of the season. However, age is not an obstacle for the Vietnamese beauty as she still maintains a stable performance, conveys positive energy and scores points in the eyes of the audience.

Domestically, audiences have shown strong support as Huong Giang's posts have received high levels of interaction. In the People's Choice voting, she is in the top 3, with a great chance of getting a direct ticket to the top 30 if she wins.

In two other important voting categories, Beyond The Crown (Meaningful Social Project) and Most Beautiful People (Inspiring Beauty), Huong Giang is in the top 2, behind the representative from the Philippines.

Since the beginning of the season, Huong Giang has maintained a neat, elegant image, communicating confidently in front of the camera and demonstrating her ability to master the stage. Her positive attitude, not using tricks or creating noise on social networks, helps to make her image more sympathetic.

To date, many international beauty rankings have included Huong Giang in the group of outstanding contestants.

According to Missosology, she ranked 14th in the top 30 most potential contestants. The Sash Factor website (Philippines) ranked Huong Giang 13th, praising her for her “professional stage presence, good communication skills and positive energy”.

Another big advantage of Huong Giang is her media influence. She currently has more than 4 million followers on Instagram - a significant number among this year's contestants.

However, experts also pointed out some points that need to be improved. Height is considered a limitation that makes the Vietnamese representative not really stand out when standing with candidates from South America and Europe.

In addition, her performance style is considered quite safe, lacking breakthroughs in fashion and stage expressions, which are important factors in this fierce beauty contest.

Some opinions from the beauty website Global Beauties also said that Huong Giang needs to show "more emotions" in the interview and personal challenge rounds.

Nguyen Huong Giang was announced as Vietnam's representative at Miss Universe 2025 in September. According to the Miss Universe Vietnam Organization, she is a testament to the resilience, courage and talent of modern Vietnamese women.

The selection of Huong Giang was a big surprise, because she was the first transgender beauty from Vietnam to participate in Miss Universe. She was also the first transgender contestant from Asia to participate in this contest.

In the introductory video , Huong Giang shared: “The fact that I represent Vietnam does not mean taking away opportunities from other women. I am not taking anything away from them, but I am redefining the strength and success of women in all circumstances.”
