Regarding the food poisoning case after eating bread bought at Ms. Bich's bakery, on the morning of November 10, the Medical Affairs Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health informed that up to now, 235 cases have been recorded that had to be hospitalized in 13 hospitals.
Of these, 139 cases have been discharged and monitored as outpatients, while 96 cases are still receiving inpatient treatment.
Specifically, Military Hospital 175 received 131 cases, currently 23 cases are still being treated as inpatients. Tam Anh General Hospital received 26 cases, currently 13 cases are still being treated as inpatients.
Gia Dinh People's Hospital has received 52 cases since November 7 and is currently treating 34 inpatients; notably, there is one severe case requiring intensive care and mechanical ventilation due to respiratory failure and pneumonia due to underlying disease.
Becamex International Hospital has admitted 9 inpatients and has not recorded any serious cases. Central America West General Hospital has admitted 7 inpatients.
In addition, other hospitals such as Children's Hospital 2, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoc Mon Regional General Hospital, People's Hospital 115... also received 1-2 emergency cases after eating bread at Ms. Bich's bakery at both facilities.
Most of the emergency cases showed signs of vomiting, fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. The health of the hospitalized victims is currently stable.
Blood test results of a victim treated at Gia Dinh People's Hospital were positive for Salmonella - bacteria that causes gastrointestinal infections.
After the incident, both locations of Ms. Bich's bakery temporarily stopped operating. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety inspected Ms. Bich's bakery business.
At the time of inspection, the business had temporarily stopped operating; the food items including ham, cold cuts, pate, eggs, vegetables, chili, cucumbers, etc. all had invoices and documents proving their clear origin. The facility was equipped with a refrigerator to preserve food and had a record book for importing and exporting goods.
Processing and storage tools must be kept clean; the processing area must be covered and protected from insects and pests. The inspection team sealed the food cabinets to facilitate verification and investigation.
The case is being further investigated and clarified by the authorities./.
