On the afternoon of November 8, answering reporters' questions about specific solutions to limit the current situation of counterfeit goods on e-commerce platforms, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is currently representing the Government to report to the National Assembly to develop the Law on E-commerce, which will stipulate the responsibilities of each entity related to e-commerce platforms.
In case of detecting counterfeit goods, within 24 hours, the seller's booth must be removed from the e-commerce platform.
Will specify the responsibilities of each entity
Specifically at the regular Government Press Conference this afternoon, Mr. Tan said that the current e-commerce business method is growing very well. In 2025, it is expected to grow 25-27%.
“This is a high growth rate; it is also an effective business activity, based on the electronic environment, bringing goods to consumers conveniently and easily, contributing to the overall growth of domestic trade,” said Mr. Tan.
Besides, according to Mr. Tan, e-commerce platforms are where businesses put their goods. Basically, there are no fake or counterfeit goods, only a few. Therefore, we continue to develop e-commerce today.
However, Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan also frankly said that there is a situation of fake, counterfeit, imitation, poor quality goods, and goods that infringe intellectual property. According to Mr. Tan, this is related to prevention and control work.
Faced with the above situation, Mr. Tan said that in terms of law, the State has a legal framework related to e-commerce management, handling violations, and protecting consumers. There are many solutions, including regulations on the responsibilities of relevant agencies, organizations, and individuals.
“Currently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is also representing the Government to report to the National Assembly to develop the Law on E-commerce, which will stipulate the responsibilities of each entity related to e-commerce platforms,” Mr. Tan emphasized.
Regarding leadership and direction, Mr. Tan said that the Government, the Prime Minister and relevant agencies and departments have also issued many resolutions and directives to direct work related to the prevention and fight against counterfeit and fake goods in general, including in the electronic environment.
“In addition, we are also implementing the Prime Minister's approved project on directly combating counterfeit, fake, imitation and poor quality goods in the e-commerce environment,” Mr. Tan informed.
Regarding the organization of the deployment force, Mr. Tan said that the Industry and Trade sector has the main force of market management. Localities also have related forces to coordinate with ministries and branches, especially coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security, Customs, other forces, etc. to organize regular and continuous inspections and controls.

"In the middle of the year, there was a peak month for anti-counterfeiting and the Prime Minister directed all forces to take action, thereby preventing and repelling fake and counterfeit goods," said Mr. Tan.
Need to "attack" counterfeit warehouses strongly
Regarding the issue of requiring responsibility of e-commerce floor owners, Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that it is clearly stated in legal regulations.
Accordingly, to prevent counterfeit goods, the floor owner must control the origin of the goods posted on the e-commerce floor.
Next, invoices and documents must be complete. When delivering goods, the floor owner must check, monitor and compensate consumers.
“If counterfeit goods are discovered, the seller's store on the e-commerce platform must be removed within 24 hours,” said Mr. Tan.
Mr. Tan also said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade determined that the current functional forces, even in the e-commerce environment, still deliver real goods, so they need to "attack" strongly on warehouses and facilities producing fake and counterfeit goods.
“Up to now, I am very happy that with such a growth rate of e-commerce, it proves that consumers still have faith in a new business method and hope that in the coming time, the forces will continue to coordinate with each other with the subjects and owners of e-commerce platforms to prevent and repel counterfeit and fake goods in the e-commerce environment,” Mr. Tan shared.
