Ensuring fertilizer source for winter crops

On the 3 sao of sweet corn that her family planted more than a month ago, Ms. Hoang Thi Tuyen in Thuan Nhat village, Hoa Loc commune is focusing on fertilizing the corn. Ms. Tuyen said: "This winter, my family planted 4 sao of winter crops (3 sao of corn and 1 sao of chili). Taking advantage of favorable weather, the family is focusing on fertilizing the plants and up to now the plants are growing well." According to Ms. Tuyen, the price of fertilizers for this winter crop has increased compared to previous crops. Currently, the price of Ninh Binh nitrogen fertilizer is 140,000 VND/quintal, 25,000 VND/quintal higher than the previous crop.

In the 2025-2026 winter crop, Hoa Loc commune aims to plant 1,000 hectares of crops, including 500 hectares of commercial crops with main crops such as sweet corn, spinach, chili, soybeans and other vegetables... For the winter crop to achieve the highest efficiency, the People's Committee of the commune has directed people on the rice and colored land areas to use short-term varieties to create early land funds for crops. Up to now, the whole commune has planted 930 hectares of winter crops; of which, there are 246 hectares of sweet corn, 97.6 hectares of chili, the rest are other vegetables.

Hoa Loc Agricultural Service Cooperative provides dozens of tons of various fertilizers each year to serve agricultural production for local people. Mr. Hoang Van Toan, director of the Cooperative, said: "To ensure the source of fertilizer for winter crops, from mid-August to September, the Cooperative imported 8 tons of various fertilizers to serve local people. Up to this point, 5 tons have been supplied in the form of deferred payment and cash payment...".

Thao Nga Fertilizer Dealer, Ngoc Lien Commune, supplies the market with tens of thousands of tons of various fertilizers each year. Mr. Nguyen Van Thao, the business owner, said: "The source of fertilizers my family imports is from branded fertilizer manufacturing companies on the market, such as: Phu My, Lam Thao, Han Viet... with an annual quantity of about 60,000 tons of various fertilizers, mainly serving the spring and winter crop production. Currently, this amount of fertilizer has been fully supplied to people by deferred payment. Compared to previous crops, this winter crop the price of fertilizers has increased by about 10% or more...".

Huu Nghi Fertilizer Joint Venture Company Limited in Hoang Long Urban Industrial Park, Nguyet Vien Ward, supplies the market with about 30,000 tons of various types of NPK fertilizers each year. To ensure the fertilizer demand for this winter crop, by August 15, 2025, the company has supplied 3,000 tons of various types of NPK fertilizers. Mr. Le Hung Manh, director of the company, said: Currently, the prices of fertilizers that the company is supplying to people have increased compared to previous crops, such as NPK 20.6.6+TE; NPK16.16.8+TE (25kg/bag) with a selling price of 325,000 VND/bag, an increase of 10% compared to before.

According to the provincial Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, in the 2025-2026 winter crop, Thanh Hoa aims to plant 46,000 hectares. Up to this point, localities have planted 22,749 hectares/46,000 hectares, reaching 49.5% of the plan. To ensure the need for seeds and fertilizers for agricultural production of the people, more than 3,000 establishments producing and trading agricultural materials in the province (24 units both producing and trading, the rest are households, cooperatives, level 1, 2, 3 agents, commercial enterprises with different scales and levels of business) have proactively supplied and are ready to supply agricultural materials to serve production for people in the province.
