Mr. Lo Van Dien, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture - Society , Muong Chanh Commune People's Committee, said: In order to preserve and promote the cultural identity of the Thai ethnic group according to the Resolution of the Central Committee V (VIII term) on "Building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity"; the movement "Building cultural villages and cultural agencies", in recent years, the Party Committee and the government of Muong Chanh commune have had many practical solutions, such as mobilizing people to preserve the traditional culture of the nation. Up to now, 87% of households in the commune still live with many generations in traditional stilt houses that have been preserved for generations with all the characteristics of the Thai ethnic group in Thanh Hoa. People in the commune still maintain the traditional brocade weaving profession, most households have weaving frames to create brocade products, such as: dresses, cushions, pieu scarves, tablecloths... to serve their families and sell to foreign markets, such as: Laos, Thailand. In addition, the preservation of traditional cultural and artistic features is also of interest. Up to now, most of the folk games and performances are still preserved by the people, such as khap melodies, xoe melodies, bamboo dances, bamboo pole dancing, throwing con, gong playing, crossbow shooting, tug of war... which are participated in by the people in competitions and performances on holidays, New Year, and receiving recognition as cultural villages and cultural agencies. The commune has 12/14 villages, agencies and units recognized as cultural villages, agencies and units, 8.75% of families are cultural families. Most villages and hamlets have art and sports teams that maintain regular activities, attracting a large number of people to participate.
The preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values of the Thai ethnic group, associated with the movement of building cultural villages, hamlets, agencies and families in Muong Chanh commune, has actively contributed to socio -economic development and improving people's living standards.
