Take me to school
Her father died early, her mother left, Le Thi Quynh Hoa, class 9A1, Trang Cat Secondary School, and her brother, who has brittle bone disease, are taken care of by their grandmother. However, the family's economic difficulties, her grandmother's old age and weak health, and lack of a stable income make Quynh Hoa's path to school more difficult than that of her peers.
Although she thought she would have to drop out of school, thanks to the support of officers and soldiers of Trang Cat Border Guard Station in the program “Helping you go to school”, Hoa’s path to school was wide open. Not disappointing the expectations of her grandparents, teachers and officers and soldiers of the Border Guard, last school year Hoa achieved excellent academic results.
As for student Nguyen Duc Viet, class 4A3, Nguyen Van Troi Primary School, he always feels lucky to be supported by officers and soldiers of Cat Ba Border Guard Station in the program "Helping you go to school". Duc Viet's situation is also very difficult, he is an orphan, lives with his father and brother who had an accident, his family situation is very difficult.
Despite many disadvantages, the poor student is always optimistic, strives to excel in his studies and achieves excellent results. Duc Viet's father confided: "Every month, officers from Cat Ba Border Guard Station come to visit, encourage and give financial support to him. With an amount of 500,000 VND/month, it helps the family cover tuition fees, buy books and school supplies."
Currently, the City Border Guard is sponsoring 58 students (from grade 1 to grade 12) in communes, wards, and special zones in the Hai Phong coastal border area and children of City Border Guard officers in difficult circumstances with an amount of 500,000 VND/student/month.

The children who are eligible for support all have difficult family circumstances. Many are orphans, some are even orphans of both parents, their parents are divorced, often sick... and do not have the conditions or ability to study and advance.
Not only providing monthly financial support, the units regularly send staff to visit, encourage and tutor the children to continue to excel in their studies and overcome difficulties in life.
Proactively generate funding
Not disappointing the hopes and expectations of their families, teachers, officers and soldiers of the Border Guard, last school year, 14 students achieved excellent academic results, 12 students achieved excellent results, 18 students achieved good results, 13 students achieved average results and 3 students passed the entrance exam to Vietnam Maritime University, 1 student passed the entrance exam to Maritime College, and 1 student studied at a vocational school.
To achieve that result, Border Guard units proactively coordinate to exchange information with families and schools about the learning and training results, awareness and responsibility of students. From there, motivate, encourage, guide knowledge, organize physical activities well, promptly detect and correct mistakes, foster knowledge for weak students, those with wrong and deviant behavior in learning and training, helping them become good children and good students.

Political Commissar of Vinh Quang Border Guard Station Le Ngoc Thang said: Currently, the funding for the implementation of the program "Helping children go to school" is all contributed by officers and soldiers of the units from their monthly salaries and allowances. Meanwhile, this is a "long-term" program, the more abundant the fund, the more children will be supported, but mobilizing funds is very difficult. Because the units are stationed in the coastal border area, there are few units and businesses in the area, so propaganda and support mobilization are still limited.
To ensure a stable source of funding and regular support for students, units encourage officers and soldiers to proactively create resources from increasing production, collecting scrap for sale, and encourage officers and soldiers to utilize relationships, promote propaganda, and mobilize philanthropists to join hands with the Border Guard force.
Colonel Kieu Manh Hiep, Deputy Political Commissar of the City Border Guard, said that in addition to regularly implementing the program "Helping children go to school", the City Border Guard received financial support to raise 39 highland students at the rate of 200,000 VND/month in the program "Adopted children of border guards".
In order to spread and improve the effectiveness of the programs "Helping children go to school" and "Adopted children of border guards", the city's Border Guard units continue to closely coordinate with local Party committees, authorities, schools and families to actively grasp the thoughts and aspirations of children, have flexible forms of support, and resolutely not let any child drop out of school. Timely review, supplement, and replace the right cases that need help and sponsorship, ensuring effectiveness. Continue to mobilize resources to support more students, helping them confidently go to school.
