On November 4 and 6, Bach Long Vi Border Guard Station coordinated with Coast Guard Station 1 (Coast Guard Region 1 Command) to organize propaganda and dissemination of laws on combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing and sustainable development of the fisheries industry for vehicle owners and fishermen in Bach Long Vi waters.

The working groups of the two units met with 480 vessel owners and fishermen, and distributed 545 leaflets and brochures to promote anti-IUU fishing. The leaflets and brochures were designed vividly, specifically, and easy to remember, disseminating some contents of the Vietnam Law of the Sea, the 2017 Fisheries Law; and regulations against IUU fishing that fishermen need to strictly implement. At the same time, the working group presented fishermen with 72 national flags.
Through the propaganda sessions, the owners of the vessels clearly understood the regulations, understood the importance of legal exploitation, protected aquatic resources and contributed to the early removal of the "yellow card" of the European Commission (EC) for Vietnamese aquatic products; at the same time, committed to not violating IUU regulations during the exploitation process at sea.

Bach Long Vi is the largest fishing ground in the Gulf of Tonkin, located in the Bach Long Vi special zone, over 130 km from Hai Phong mainland. This is the area where many fishing boats of fishermen from Quang Binh , Quang Tri, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa... to the Northern region are concentrated.
During the peak period of fighting IUU fishing, in addition to propaganda work at ports and anchorages, the authorities focused on patrolling, checking, controlling, and strictly handling cases of intentional violations.
