Delegates attending.

At the workshop, delegates discussed, exchanged, evaluated, analyzed, shared experiences and proposed scientific and technological solutions, policies and international cooperation to protect and sustainably develop the swiftlet population through topics such as: the development situation, management of swiftlet farming and export of swiftlet nests; scientific basis and practice of sustainable development of Vietnam's swiftlet farming industry; prevention of illegal hunting and raising public awareness in protecting swiftlets; developing the value chain of Vietnam's swiftlet industry from exploitation, processing to export; some proposals to protect and sustainably develop the swiftlet population in Vietnam; application of modern technologies in monitoring, conservation and sustainable development of Vietnam's island swiftlet resources; species evolution, gene convergence and conservation strategies for swiftlets in the era of Genomics and climate change; impact of climate change on the development of the island swiftlet population in Khanh Hoa province.

Former Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Huu Hoang presented a speech.

It is known that the swiftlet is a rare bird species, closely associated with the sea and islands of Vietnam, most concentrated in Khanh Hoa province, which is considered the largest "capital of bird's nests" in Southeast Asia. This is the species that produces the world's highest quality natural island swiftlet nests and they often nest in caves and crevices in the cliffs of the islands. Bird's nests are not only a precious gift from nature but also the crystallization of the intelligence, dedication and tradition of persistent labor of many generations of Khanh Hoa people. However, besides the great economic values that bird's nests bring, the bird's nest industry is also facing many challenges. The population of natural island swiftlets has declined sharply due to the impact of climate change, environmental pollution and illegal hunting. Along with that, the bird's nest farming industry has developed spontaneously, lacking overall planning and value chain linkage; deep processing technology, traceability and product quality management are still limited; Community awareness of the protection and sustainable development of swiftlet populations is uneven; mechanisms, policies and state management of the profession of raising and exploiting swiftlets are still lacking in synchronization and have not kept up with development practices... In the face of these realities, the workshop is an important forum for scientists, managers, businesses and localities to discuss, exchange, evaluate, analyze, share experiences and propose scientific and technological solutions, policies and international cooperation to protect and sustainably develop swiftlet populations.

Representatives of central ministries and branches spoke at the workshop.
Chairwoman of the Board of Members of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company Trinh Thi Hong Van delivered a concluding speech at the workshop.

Concluding the workshop, Ms. Trinh Thi Hong Van - Chairwoman of the Board of Members of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company evaluated the thematic reports and comments with profound scientific and practical values, enthusiasm and intelligence of leaders, scientists, experts in the fields of biology and environment, and representatives of departments, branches and localities analyzed and clarified the role, potential value and development orientation of Vietnam's salangane farming industry, especially the population of natural salanganes on Khanh Hoa islands - a rare biological resource, a symbol of Khanh Hoa. At the same time, pointed out new challenges in management, conservation, as well as sustainable development orientation in the current period. The results of the workshop are an important basis for Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company to research, recommend and propose to the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee and central ministries and branches on synchronous policies and solutions in protecting and developing the population of salanganes in Vietnam in general and Khanh Hoa province in particular. In addition, it is also an important scientific basis to help Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company continue to build a Strategy to protect and develop the natural island swiftlet population in the new phase and develop the value chain of Vietnamese salanganes nest products to reach the international level, in line with the socio-economic development orientation of Khanh Hoa province, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 1st Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Congress.
