The legend of “Agarwood forest and bird’s nest sea” has been deeply rooted in the history and culture of Khanh Hoa for nearly 700 years, fostering the sacred value of a gift from heaven. In order for this heritage to not only survive but also flourish, in 1990, Khanh Hoa Bird’s Nest Company was established under Decision No. 1352 of Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, officially starting a new chapter for this special industry.

The first steps are always marked by hardship. The company took over 8 islands with 40 caves and a team of less than 90 people. Capital, technology and facilities were lacking. But in that context, the fire of determination was ignited. With a creative spirit and hard work, the company quickly stabilized its organization, focusing on investing in protecting the islands. In the first year, the bird's nest output reached 1,931 kg, an increase of 24% compared to the time of handover.
Up to now, after 35 years, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company has developed into a strong system with 16 affiliated units, 11 subsidiaries, managing 33 salangane islands with 173 salangane caves spread across the sea of Khanh Hoa. With more than 4,000 employees in the entire system, the company is not only one of the leading enterprises in the province but also a pioneering brand in the whole country. From a revenue of 23 billion VND in 1991, the company has achieved a revenue of thousands of billions of VND, contributing greatly to the state budget, affirming its leading position in the Vietnamese Salanganes Nest industry.
For the past 3.5 decades, the biggest challenge for Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company has been how to preserve and develop the natural island swiftlet population in the context of severe climate change, from El Nino, La Nina to storms, floods and droughts. The company’s answer lies in steadfastly making science the core foundation for all conservation strategies.
The most outstanding achievement in that journey is the application of science to protect the environment of bird nest caves and multiply the flock. Since 2004, the company has carried out scientific projects such as building a wave-breaking system with tetrapod concrete blocks and wave pressure-reducing nets, turning dangerous bird nest caves into solid fortresses against the destructive power of the ocean. Typically, the initiative to improve the roof of the Hang Trong basin (Hon Ngoai island) has helped increase the output at the cave by up to 60%.

However, the secret of moving and multiplying swiftlet flocks has become a real breakthrough. The company has successfully researched and mastered the technique of moving swiftlet flocks to new island caves. The key topic "Technological process, artificial incubation and swiftlet farming techniques" headed by Master Le Huu Hoang won the first prize at the 9th Vifotec (2006 - 2007). This project has helped the company proactively develop and expand the swiftlet population.
With the establishment of the Sanatech Swiftlet Technology Center and the Scientific Research Center, the company has applied high-tech solutions such as: Misting system to maintain humidity, cameras to observe swiftlet behavior. From 2014 to 2024, the company has successfully hatched 116,336 eggs and released 60,436 chicks into the wild. Thanks to persistent scientific efforts, from the original 8 islands, the company has moved the flock and developed to 33 islands with 173 swiftlet caves, creating a national record for the number of swiftlet caves preserved and sustainably exploited.
Not only stopping at island bird's nest, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company is also a pioneer in developing indoor bird's nest farming. State and provincial level topics such as "Research on scientific basis and propose solutions for sustainable development of bird's nest farming in Vietnam" (2011 - 2014) have laid a solid theoretical and technical foundation. The successful research project on the technical process of building bird's nest houses suitable for each region not only helps thousands of households across the country develop their economy effectively, but also received the WIPO Award (World Intellectual Property Organization) in 2016. Most recently, the topic on "Building a smart bird's nest house monitoring and control system" at the provincial level, allowing remote management, optimizing operations, opening up new directions in management and sustainable exploitation, pioneering in leading this new industry.

At bird nest raw material processing factories, the production process is strictly controlled according to leading international standards such as: ISO, HACCP, FDA, FSMA, AQIS, CFIA, BRCGS. Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company has brought more than 60 different nutritious product lines to the market, from natural bird's nest, refined bird's nest, premium bird's nest water to the breakthrough product of Khanh Hoa natural bird's nest essence applying modern extraction technology, meeting the needs of convenient, safe and transparent consumption of origin. In particular, each product has a QR code attached to it, showing the commitment to absolute transparency about the origin of Khanh Hoa natural island bird's nest.
Success does not stop at the domestic market with more than 1,000 distributors and agents. After nearly 3.5 decades, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company has exported products to 30 countries and territories, conquering demanding markets with strict quality requirements such as: USA, Australia, Canada, Japan.
In particular, a historic milestone came at the end of 2023 when Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company's products were officially exported to the Chinese market - the world's largest bird's nest consumer market, thanks to the signed protocol.

The company has been recognized as a National Brand for many years in a row and in 2024 alone, it was the only salanganes nest production and trading unit in the country to receive this certification with 5 product lines. Notably, in 2015, the company was awarded the title of Labor Hero in the Renewal Period by the President; was awarded the First Class Labor Medal, the National Quality Gold Award and many other prestigious awards.
