On November 4, the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province Police announced that this unit has issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and ban Nguyen Duc Minh Tam (39 years old, residing in Vinh Tay 3 Hamlet, Vinh Te Ward, An Giang Province) from leaving his place of residence for the act of "producing fake goods such as food, foodstuffs, and food additives".
Previously, at the end of May, Nguyen Duc Minh Tam was inspected by the interdisciplinary force of An Giang province and caught red-handed producing counterfeit goods.
During the inspection, the following products and objects were temporarily seized: 469 plastic cans of 4 liters each, containing a black liquid product with a fish sauce smell; 4 plastic barrels containing a liquid product with a laundry detergent and fabric softener smell with a total capacity of more than 3,000 liters; 120 bags of fabric softener labeled Hygiene, 1,100ml, made in Thailand; 780 black plastic bottles, 6,521 plastic bags of various types printed with the Hygiene brand and 2 liquid filling machines and many other chemicals...
According to the investigation results, Tam rented a house in group 7, Tay Khanh 5 hamlet, My Hoa ward, Long Xuyen city (former An Giang province) as a place to produce fake goods including laundry detergent and fish sauce.
Tam hired an additional assistant, learned how to mix the ingredients on social media, then ordered chemicals, more than 6,500 pre-printed bags labeled "Hygiene Thailand" and tools such as barrels, filling machines... to organize production.

According to his confession, Tam mixed chemicals (colorants, flavorings) with water, salt... to create a solution that had the color and smell of fish sauce. Then, Tam bought used 900ml bottles and cartons labeled "Nam Ngu De Nhi" from scrap collection points, poured the homemade solution into bottles, and packed 15 bottles/carton. Each carton of fake fish sauce was sold for 300,000 VND, about 20,000 VND cheaper than the real one.
Tam also poured homemade dipping sauce into unlabeled 4-liter plastic cans and sold them for 40,000 VND/can to many restaurants in Long Xuyen City and neighboring areas.
For the fake laundry detergent, Tam used chemicals to create colors, scents, and foams mixed in 4 large plastic drums (capacity 1,000 - 1,500 liters), creating a thick solution that smells like real laundry detergent and fabric softener. Then, Tam poured the product into bags printed with the "Hygiene Thailand" brand and brought it to sell and consume at grocery stores and roadside retail outlets.
