Many shipments violated
The first product of this company to be found in violation was Hanayuki Shampoo. Specifically, on May 7, 2025, the Drug Administration of Vietnam ( Ministry of Health ) issued a document suspending the circulation, recalling and destroying nationwide the batch of Hanayuki Shampoo products (300g bottles) due to violating the limits of microbiological indicators and containing ingredients not included in the standard declaration.
According to the results of the Ho Chi Minh City Drug Testing Institute, this shampoo sample did not meet quality requirements, containing 2-Phenoxyethanol, an ingredient not included in the licensed and published formula. The company was forced to recall and destroy the violating product batch.

The batch of Hanayuki Shampoo released by the company to the market was recalled.
Just 10 days later, on May 17, the Drug Administration continued to suspend circulation and recall the entire batch of Hanayuki Sunscreen Body sunscreen products (box of 1 tube of 100g).
The reason is that the test results show that the sun protection factor (SPF) listed on the label is 50, but in reality it is very low.
In addition, the product declaration does not include information about the SPF 50 sun protection index as on the label in circulation.
This is also the product that caused Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vu to be temporarily detained to investigate the act of producing and trading counterfeit goods.
Continuing, on May 24, the Drug Administration Department decided to recall the Hanayuki Conditioner product batch (300g bottle) because it contained 2-Phenoxyethanol, which is not in the published formula. At the same time, this agency requested to temporarily suspend the production and business activities of two related companies, EBC Group and VB Group.
Just three days later, on May 27, another product was recalled: the G-Thera Amino Anti-Wrinkle Mask (5 pieces/25g box). According to the decision of the Drug Administration, the original label of the product had incorrect ingredient formula compared to the published profile (missing Butylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin).
All products are brought to market by VB Group Trading and Service Company Limited (HCMC), a company with Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vu as general director and legal representative.
Also on May 27, the Drug Administration Department announced that it would stop accepting cosmetic declaration dossiers of VB Group Trading and Service Company Limited. At the same time, the authorities of Dong Nai province held an urgent meeting and agreed to initiate a case to investigate signs of counterfeit production of Hanayuki Sunscreen Body products manufactured by EBC Dong Nai Medical Factory Joint Stock Company.
Once "apologized" and said he was also "affected"
Previously, singer Doan Di Bang regularly promoted Hanayuki products on her website, e-commerce platform and personal social media page, affirming that the products were "researched by leading experts", "100% extracted from nature" and "safe for health".
In particular, each time the management agency recalled the product due to quality violations, Doan Di Bang posted an "apology" because of "the manufacturing unit's error".
"We are also the direct victims because we are the customers who import products from the factory. This incident is a big lesson and an opportunity for us to review and further improve our internal inspection standards," the notice said.
She also said: "Even though it did not directly cause the incident, VB Company is still the affected party."
After the authorities initiated an investigation, Doan Di Bang and Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vu no longer made any official statements regarding the company and other distributed products.
Prosecution of the case, temporary detention of Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vu
After more than 5 months of prosecuting the case, on November 5, the Investigation Police Agency of Dong Nai Province Police temporarily detained Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vu (47 years old, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) to investigate the act of producing and trading counterfeit goods.
According to initial information, around January 2025, at the EBC Dong Nai factory, 1,652 Hanayuki Sunscreen Body sunscreen products with low SPF were produced and put on the market. The appraisal conclusion of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Criminal Science showed that the actual SPF was 25.82, only 51.64% compared to the declared on the packaging.
The investigation agency determined that Mr. and Mrs. Dinh Van Lien, Nguyen Thi Tuyen (Deputy General Director of EBC Dong Nai) and Nguyen Quoc Vu (General Director of VB Group) have sufficient elements to constitute the crime of "producing and trading in counterfeit goods" according to Article 192 of the 2015 Penal Code. The investigation agency is continuing to investigate to clarify.
