Da Nang City leaders listened to a representative of the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center report on the degradation of heritage sites.
According to a report by the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center, of the more than 1,155 surveyed relics, most are still safe, but 30 relics are degraded, of which 9 are serious relics, 14 are heavy relics and 7 are light relics. The center has carried out emergency support for one relic (house number 23 Tieu La) and mobilized 19 relic owners to reinforce themselves. For 10 relics that are seriously degraded, the center proposed urgent restoration or temporary demolition due to the inability to ensure safety.
Hoi An Ancient Town has more than 83% of its relics as private houses, which play an important role in the spatial structure of the heritage and the lives of residents. However, many buildings lack legal documents and the cost of restoration is beyond the ability of the people, especially in small alleys with few business conditions.

Hoi An ancient town currently has more than 83% of its relics as private houses.
The Center recommends that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism submit to the People's Committee of Da Nang City to consider the following solutions: invest in urgent restoration of relics at risk of collapse, with a mechanism of 100% funding support for works of special value; support funding for restoration and embellishment of other relics (40% - 100% of costs); establish the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Fund to rescue degraded relics; establish an emergency restoration project; contract with consulting units and research institutes to assess the impact of climate change and natural disasters, thereby building sustainable conservation solutions.
Representatives of the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center emphasized that early implementation of measures is necessary to protect the integrity of the heritage against extreme weather and climate change.

Da Nang City leaders requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to propose conservation and restoration plans suitable to actual conditions.
Through the inspection, Mr. Pham Duc An, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City affirmed the important role of relics in cultural and spiritual life and tourism development. He requested the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with departments, branches and localities to continue to review and specifically evaluate the current status and function of each relic, thereby proposing feasible conservation and restoration plans, both preserving historical and cultural values and effectively exploiting tourism potential, contributing to the city's socio -economic development.
