Female union official "Good at public affairs, good at housework"

In the emulation movement “Good at public work, good at home work” launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, many female union officials have demonstrated their dedication, intelligence and courage. Outstanding among them is Ms. Le Thi Thuong, Vice President of the Trade Union of Annora Vietnam Shoes Co., Ltd., who has devoted herself to the interests and lives of tens of thousands of workers for many years, while still fulfilling her family responsibilities.

Ms. Le Thi Thuong was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for her outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at housework", period 2020 - 2025.

Ms. Thuong shared: “I think that union officials not only protect the rights of workers but also have to be companions, close, ready to listen to the thoughts and aspirations of workers. Every action we take is aimed at the sole goal of protecting the rights, bringing trust and happiness to workers.”

From that thought, Ms. Thuong and the Executive Board of the Trade Union of Annora Shoes Vietnam Co., Ltd. always proactively coordinate closely with the Board of Directors of the enterprise in taking care of the material and spiritual life of employees, especially female employees - the force accounting for 88% of the company's workforce. Every year, Ms. Thuong advises the Executive Board of the company's trade union to closely monitor the implementation of labor laws; promptly detect and resolve arising problems; participate with the enterprise in amending and supplementing labor regulations in accordance with current regulations and actual production situation. Thanks to that, policies on salary, bonus, and welfare are guaranteed, the working environment is increasingly stable. In particular, she has contributed to building a clear job position assessment system, helping 80% of workers enjoy allowances such as toxicity, technical efficiency, heavy work... creating motivation to encourage employees to stay with the enterprise for a long time.

As a female union official working at the enterprise with the largest number of employees in Thanh Hoa province today (nearly 21,000 people), Ms. Thuong always clearly identifies her responsibility as representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of employees. With a high sense of responsibility, she has effectively advised the company's union executive board to develop an annual work program, promptly adjusting and supplementing operating regulations in accordance with production reality. Ms. Thuong pays special attention to negotiating and signing collective labor agreements with many provisions that are beneficial to employees, especially female employees. These include humane regulations such as: female employees who are pregnant from the 7th month are allowed to work 7 hours but are paid 8 hours, support for raising small children of 50,000 VND/child/month, no overtime on holidays such as March 8, October 20, June 1, etc.

In the work of representing and protecting workers, she always plays the role of a trustworthy bridge between workers and business leaders. Every year, the union coordinates to organize 5 to 6 regular dialogues, each meeting resolving dozens of workers' petitions. In addition, suggestion boxes are placed in workshops to help the union promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of workers. Ms. Thuong also actively advises the union and the business to visit 5 to 10 workers' families in especially difficult circumstances every month to visit, encourage and give gifts, worth 3 million VND/family. Through these trips, the business leadership understands more about the lives of workers, thereby having more practical welfare policies such as supporting night shift meal money, holiday bonuses, accepting workers' relatives to work, helping to repair houses for workers in difficulty.

Ms. Thuong is also the initiator of many activities to care for the spiritual life of workers. During the period of 2020-2025, she advised on the establishment of a football and volleyball club, and organized sports tournaments with hundreds of athletes participating. Under her advice, the company's union implemented creative models such as "Worker's Cultural Corner", "Pregnant Women - Raising Children Group", "3V - for the union, for workers, for the sustainable development of the enterprise". These models have created a strong influence, contributing to connecting workers and building a healthy and humane corporate culture.

In addition, Ms. Thuong strives to research and create initiatives in the labor process, which are effectively applied in the factory. Typical initiatives are: "Concretizing the form of propaganda through the model of organizing the contest "Learning about labor regulations online" for workers in the enterprise"; "Improving the quality of training in negotiation and dialogue skills for union leaders in enterprises with a large number of workers"...

With her tireless efforts, Ms. Le Thi Thuong was honored by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor as an outstanding individual nationwide in the emulation movement "Good at public work, good at housework", period 2020-2025.
