Remove connection "bottlenecks".

In mid-August 2025, Component Project 1A, the Tan Van - Nhon Trach section, with the crucial Nhon Trach bridge connecting Nhon Trach urban area with Ho Chi Minh City, was officially inaugurated and put into operation. The inauguration and operation of the project not only provides an additional route from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City but also significantly contributes to reducing traffic pressure in the inner city area, especially on the Cat Lai ferry and the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway. For Nhon Trach urban area specifically, the commissioning of Component Project 1A not only shortens the distance between this urban area and Ho Chi Minh City but also opens up great opportunities for socio-economic development.

Provincial Party Committee member and Director of the Department of Finance, Truong Thi Huong Binh, stated that the inauguration and commissioning of Component Project 1A, the Tan Van - Nhon Trach section, will create favorable conditions for goods transportation and enhance trade exchange between Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.

Component Project 1A is a section of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3. According to the plan, the entire route will be open for technical traffic in December 2025; and completed and put into full operation in 2026. At that time, it will be one of the most important transportation arteries connecting Nhon Trach urban area with Ho Chi Minh City urban area.

Along with the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 Project, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, another transportation artery connecting Nhon Trach urban area with Ho Chi Minh City, will also be completed in 2026. In addition, the Phuoc An Bridge Project is also planned for completion in 2027.

Most recently, the Cat Lai Bridge construction project has been approved by Dong Nai province, with the proposed investor being considered. According to Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha, Dong Nai province aims to begin construction of the Cat Lai Bridge in 2026.

The Cat Lai Bridge is one of the most anticipated road bridge projects connecting Dong Nai with Ho Chi Minh City, a long-awaited development for residents of both localities. In particular, for Dong Nai, this bridge is expected to create a major boost for the development of Nhon Trach urban area.

Nhon Trach urban area is located at the heart of the Southern key economic region, playing an extremely important role in the socio-economic development of Dong Nai province. Geographically, Nhon Trach is close to Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in the country. However, Nhon Trach and Ho Chi Minh City are separated by the Dong Nai, Long Tau, Dong Tranh, and Thi Vai rivers. This separation by rivers and the lack of a comprehensively developed transportation infrastructure connecting the two cities is one of the major "bottlenecks" hindering Nhon Trach's development for a long time. Therefore, once this "bottleneck" is removed, the opportunity for Nhon Trach to achieve breakthrough development is wide open.

Ho Chi Minh City is also considering promoting the Phu My 2 Bridge construction project across the Dong Nai River. The Phu My 2 Bridge will have its starting point on Nguyen Huu Tho Street (Ho Chi Minh City) and its end point connecting to the inter-port road in Nhon Trach urban area (Dong Nai province).

Accelerate the completion of the urban master plan adjustments.

In April 2024, the Prime Minister approved the task of comprehensively adjusting the master plan for the Nhon Trach new urban area until 2045. The comprehensive adjustment of the Nhon Trach new urban area master plan aims to meet the new development situation and overcome the limitations and shortcomings of the current planning project.

According to the approved overall master plan adjustment, Nhon Trach urban area is oriented to become an industrial, port service, logistics, and riverside tourism city, playing a key role as one of the key urban centers of the Southern dynamic region and the central sub-region of the Southeast region. It will also serve as a nucleus for socio-economic development in the central urban area of Dong Nai province.

Furthermore, Nhon Trach urban area will be one of the economic, cultural, scientific-technical, and innovation centers of Dong Nai province; supporting functions related to housing, education and training, healthcare, and commerce to reduce the pressure of population growth on urban areas in the central sub-region of the Southeast region.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Construction Do Thanh Phuong: The overall adjustment plan for the Nhon Trach urban area has been completed by Dong Nai province after receiving and explaining the opinions of the Ministry of Construction and other relevant ministries and agencies. A favorable factor in the planning process is that after the reorganization of commune-level administrative units in the province, the Nhon Trach urban area has not changed its boundaries compared to the planning boundaries of the former Nhon Trach district.

On the part of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, in order to create a basis for implementing the zoning plans and thereby attract investment projects, Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested the Department of Construction and related agencies to expedite the preparation, submission for appraisal, and approval of the overall adjustment plan for the Nhon Trach urban area. The goal is for this plan to be approved in December 2025.
