This creates a safe learning, living and experiencing environment for students, helping them appreciate their school, teachers and friends more. At the same time, educate students to raise awareness and habits of preserving and protecting the environment, and combating climate change.
Raising awareness of environmental protection
Tan Xuan Secondary School ( Binh Phuoc Ward, Dong Nai Province) is not only a school that is always at the top in terms of quality but is also considered a green, clean, beautiful, and friendly school. In addition to investing in building spacious and modern facilities, ensuring more than 1,700 students to study, the landscape in each classroom and the school yard is focused on with many solutions.

Accordingly, Tan Xuan Secondary School promotes propaganda to raise students' awareness; each student not only knows how to sweep, collect, and classify garbage at the source through the "Small Plan" project of the Youth Union but also realizes the important role in taking care of trees.
“To have a green schoolyard and clean, beautiful, and friendly classroom corridors, we need to be aware of maintaining public hygiene. To do this, teachers must do it first. Through propaganda and reminders, students will bend down to pick up trash wherever they see it. Teachers do the same, proactively doing it first so that students can follow suit” - Mr. Hoang My Thuan, Team Leader, Tan Xuan Secondary School shared.
Nguyen Phuong Anh, class 98, Tan Xuan Secondary School said: When studying in a healthy environment like this, I feel safe and happy; at the same time, I remind myself every day to raise awareness of environmental protection, plant more trees, pick up trash, and classify trash according to regulations.
In the old border district of Loc Ninh, many years ago, the education sector launched a 100% primary and secondary school movement to implement the Small Plan Movement. Since then, schools have built waste sorting facilities, coordinated with teams to collect recycled waste to educate environmental protection awareness and create a small plan fund for the teams.
The "Small Plan" project of Loc Thinh Secondary School (Loc Thanh Commune, Dong Nai Province) called "recyclable waste sorting house" is located right in the corner of the yard for students to easily observe and practice. The project is designed like a small house, eye-catching decoration, made of iron frame and corrugated iron, divided into 3 compartments to store plastic waste, paper waste, metal waste. During breaks or before and after each class, students of all grades collect scrap paper, plastic waste, recyclable cans and put them in the compartments. For non-recyclable waste, the school arranges organic and inorganic waste bins in the shape of funny animals placed in suitable locations for students to collect and put them in.
A green, clean, beautiful school is one of the criteria for evaluating and recognizing a school that meets national standards. But the practical meaning is not only in the title but also in bringing joy and comfort to students when going to school. A clean, airy space, shady green trees and blooming flowers are positive energy to make "every day at school a happy day". This is also an educational message, raising students' awareness of protecting the living environment right from the smallest level.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue, Vice Principal of Loc Thinh Secondary School, shared: To implement this model, the school first introduced waste classification to each student as well as their parents, because students always have the habit of throwing all their waste in one place. The detailed instructions on recyclable and non-recyclable waste helped students voluntarily and correctly implement it. Initially, it was implemented in grades 8-9, then set an example for grades 1-2 to follow. On weekends, the Youth Union collects recyclable waste to sell to raise money to carry out youth projects and donate to the fund to support students in difficult circumstances with more than 3 million VND/school year.
Bright spot in building green, clean and beautiful schools
The first impression when coming to Hung Vuong Secondary School (in Trang Bom commune, Dong Nai province) is the spacious, airy, fresh, friendly campus with a system of green trees, ornamental plants, colorful flower beds and many works and items serving the learning, experience, and education of revolutionary traditions for students. In particular, all works and items are planned, arranged methodically, elaborately, and eye-catching. To have a green, clean, beautiful, friendly school campus is not a matter of one or two days but the whole process of joining hands and contributing of teachers, students and the school's social mobilization over the past decades.
Along with the green, clean, and beautiful landscape, the school also built bright classrooms and a green library, creating a cool, comfortable space for reading, relaxing, and learning experiences, creating a sense of closeness and friendliness for the children when they come to school. This is an important “key” to educating and raising awareness of environmental protection for the younger generation.
“I feel happy and grateful to the teachers and benefactors who have built a spacious school campus. Not only does it create a comfortable learning and experience space, but it also educates each student about protecting the living environment, protecting trees, and not littering indiscriminately,” said Pham Thanh Tra, class 8/2, Hung Vuong Secondary School.
To keep the Hung Vuong Secondary School campus green, clean and beautiful, as well as the learning gardens, medicinal plant gardens, playgrounds and training grounds clean, green and airy, the entire school community plays a great role, in which the Youth Union plays a core role.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Nga, Team Leader, Hung Vuong Secondary School said: Right from the beginning of the school year, the Team has developed a plan, assigning each class to be in charge of a specific area to clean and take care of trees, ornamental plants, and flower beds every day. Along with that, each class will be assigned a Green Friday and will take turns doing it until the end of the school year. Thereby, the landscape and school grounds are always maintained; at the same time, educating and raising awareness about keeping the general environment clean for each student and teacher.
Mr. Nguyen Thuy Du, Vice Principal of Hung Vuong Secondary School, said: The school is located in the Trang Bom Commune Administrative Center with an area of over 2.3 hectares, invested in a spacious and impressive construction with 3 rows of classrooms, along with auxiliary works and items to meet the learning needs of nearly 1,800 students/41 classrooms. On that basis, the school is supported by benefactors with materials, trees, ornamental plants, flower beds and together with the school, proposes ideas to build a green, clean, beautiful campus, worthy of the name "Happy School". With many factors, over the years, Hung Vuong Secondary School has been recognized as meeting national standards level 2 and is a green, clean, beautiful school at the provincial level in 2023.
