On the afternoon of November 13, in Hanoi, within the framework of the program "Sharing with teachers" in 2025, leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training organized a meeting with 80 outstanding teachers to listen to their thoughts and aspirations.

Sharing at the program, Ms. Tran Thi Thao - 56 years old, working at Dao San High School for Ethnic Minorities, Lai Chau province - said that students at the school are currently facing many difficulties and lack of facilities in the boarding area. Students have to live in corrugated iron houses, which were built with the help of teachers and benefactors.

"During the rainy season, the sleeping area leaks and meals are very modest. We can only mobilize the local people to provide vegetables and food to supplement the children's meals. Currently, the school's teachers also have to rent houses and face many difficulties," said Ms. Thao.

Similarly, Ms. Giang Thi Tuyen - Phu Lung Primary School, Bach Dich Commune, Tuyen Quang Province - said that the school is a border school in a remote area of the province, but since 2020 the school no longer has a boarding system for students.

According to her, there is no longer a boarding system, students have to take care of their own lunch, books and learning equipment. But in fact, 100% of the school's students are ethnic minorities. The circumstances of the majority of students are very difficult.

"The children's houses are too far from school, so they have to bring their lunch to class. Looking at their lunch boxes, I was deeply moved because they were so simple. Some children only had a little white rice, some did not have white rice, but had men men and a little vegetable soup. There was nothing fresh food," Ms. Tuyen said, adding that currently 100% of teachers had to stay in rented accommodation because there was no boarding area for teachers.

Ms. Lau Y Pay - Tri Le Kindergarten, Nghe An province - is working at Huoi Moi school. Tri Le Kindergarten is a place where 100% of Mong ethnic people live.

According to Ms. Y Pay, at her school, students bring their own lunch to class. Some students only bring white rice with vegetables, or eggs or dried fish. On days when the temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius, some students still wear shorts to school.

"The school will have electricity in 2023. In 2024, the school will call on benefactors to drill wells for the children's daily activities. Currently, there are still two remote locations without electricity or water, and one location without a phone signal. I hope the children will have better living conditions," said Ms. Y Pay.

According to actual needs, the Ministry will review and gradually expand the network of schools to meet practical requirements. The Ministry is also urgently completing the system of guiding documents, ensuring the progress and quality of implementation.

Along with investment in facilities, issues related to teaching staff, operating costs and boarding and semi-boarding policies for students in disadvantaged areas are also being studied synchronously.

"In the long term, the boarding school system in border areas will play an important role in implementing the new general education program, developing quality human resources, providing career orientation, discovering and nurturing talents, and creating a source of cadres for the locality," Deputy Minister Le Quan emphasized.
