Kuwaiti Prime Minister presided over the solemn welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the palace.

According to VNA, the official welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh took place on the morning of November 17 local time at the Bayan Palace of the Kuwait Royal Family.

This is the first visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister to Kuwait in 16 years, in the context of the two countries looking towards activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations in 2026.

At the Bayan Palace of the Kuwait Royal Family, showing the importance of the visit, Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al Sabah came to the parking lot to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Pleased to meet each other, Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al Sabah invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to move on the carpet to the place of honor.

As the two Prime Ministers took their places of honor before the national flags of both countries, the national anthems of Vietnam and Kuwait were solemnly played. The welcoming ceremony ended with the two sides introducing to each other the participants of their respective welcome ceremonies.

After nearly 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations, Vietnam - Kuwait relations have developed well.

The two countries maintain high-level visits, contacts and bilateral cooperation mechanisms. Kuwait is currently Vietnam's largest trade and investment partner among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Two-way trade turnover in 2024 will reach 7.3 billion USD. Kuwait's largest investment project in Vietnam is the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex with a total investment of 9 billion USD.

Currently, there are a number of cooperation agreements between the two countries connecting local cooperation such as Ho Chi Minh City and Ahmadi province, Thanh Hoa province and Al Farwaniyh province.

During his visit to Kuwait, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will hold talks and meetings with the King, Prime Minister, and Crown Prince of Kuwait. He will also visit economic establishments, work with major Kuwaiti economic groups, and deliver policy speeches at the Kuwait Diplomatic Academy.

Through these activities, the two sides will exchange, agree on directions and measures and determine a framework for deeper cooperation in the coming time; bringing bilateral relations to a new height.

Along with enhancing political trust, the two sides promote the development of potential fields such as oil and gas, energy, ensuring food security, products according to Halal Islamic standards, opening direct flights, promoting trade cooperation, investment, tourism, connecting businesses, and people-to-people exchanges.

The two countries will exploit advantages so that Vietnam can become a gateway for Kuwait to expand its market to Southeast Asia and neighboring countries, while Kuwait helps Vietnam access the Middle East and neighboring markets.

The two sides also expressed mutual support at international forums and multilateral mechanisms, contributing to stability, peace, cooperation, and prosperous development for both countries, the two regions, and the world.
