Weather on November 17: The North turns cold, the Central region continues to have heavy rain

Around the afternoon and night of November 17, cold air will affect the Northeast and North Central regions with the lowest temperature commonly ranging from 12-15 degrees Celsius, and in mountainous areas from 9-12 degrees Celsius.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the weather on November 17th in the North will turn cold and the Central region will continue to have heavy rain. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the midlands, the Northern Delta and the North Central region will generally be from 12-15 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas from 9-12 degrees Celsius, in high mountainous areas in some places below 8 degrees Celsius.

The strong cold air mass that has been reported is still moving south. On land, around the afternoon and night of November 17, this cold air mass will affect the Northeast and North Central regions, then affect the Northwest, Central Central regions and some places in the South Central region.

Accordingly, the Northeast wind is level 3-4, coastal areas level 4-5. Temperatures from the evening and night of November 17 in the midlands, the Northern Delta and the North Central region will turn cold, the mountainous areas of the North will be very cold, and some high mountainous areas will be extremely cold.

In Hanoi area, from the afternoon and night of November 17-18, there will be rain and showers; from the evening and night of November 17, the weather will turn cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is commonly 13-15 degrees Celsius.

At the same time, heavy rain is forecast in the area from Ha Tinh to Lam Dong. From early morning of November 17 to the end of the night of November 18, in the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang City, the East of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces, there will be heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall from 200-450mm, locally over 700mm.

Ha Tinh area, the East of Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa provinces have heavy rain, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 100-300mm, locally over 400mm.

In the West, provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak and Lam Dong have moderate to heavy rain with common rainfall from 50-100mm, locally very heavy rain over 200mm.

During the day and night of November 17, the Southern region is also forecast to have moderate rain and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall from 20-40mm, and some places over 80mm.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns of the risk of localized heavy rain >200mm/3h.

At sea, during the day and night of November 17, the Central and Southern East Sea (including Truong Sa special zone), the Southern Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from Southern Quang Tri to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to An Giang and the Gulf of Thailand will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. There is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind in thunderstorms.

Hanoi area

- Cloudy, no rain during the day, sunny in the afternoon and evening; rain, showers and thunderstorms in some places from the evening and night. Northeast wind level 2-3. Cold at night and morning.

- Lowest temperature 14-16 degrees Celsius; highest 26-28 degrees Celsius.

Northwest

- Cloudy, some rain during the day; rain, showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and at night. Light wind. Cold at night, some places are freezing.

- Lowest temperature 12-15 degrees Celsius, some places below 12 degrees Celsius; highest 25-28 degrees Celsius.

Northeast

- Cloudy, some rain during the day. From late afternoon and night there will be scattered rain, showers and thunderstorms. Northeast wind level 3-4, coastal areas level 4-5. Cold in the morning, cold in the evening and at night; very cold in the mountains, severe cold in some high mountains.

- Lowest temperature 13-16 degrees Celsius; mountainous areas 11-13 degrees Celsius, high mountainous areas in some places below 10 degrees Celsius; highest 25-28 degrees Celsius.

Provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue

- Cloudy. In the North (Thanh Hoa - Nghe An), there will be some rain during the day, from the evening and at night there will be rain, showers and thunderstorms, in Nghe An there will be moderate to heavy rain in some places. In the South there will be heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms. North to Northwest wind level 3-4, coastal areas level 4-5. In the North, it will be cold in the morning; from the evening and at night the weather will turn cold. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

- Lowest temperature in the North is 13-16 degrees Celsius, in the South is 19-22 degrees Celsius; highest is 23-26 degrees Celsius.

South Central Coast Region

- Cloudy. In the North, there will be heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms; in the South, there will be moderate rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain. Northeast wind level 2-3. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

- Lowest temperature 22-25 degrees Celsius; highest in the North 25-27 degrees Celsius, in the South 28-30 degrees Celsius.

Central Highlands provinces

- Cloudy. In the North, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain; in the South, there will be moderate rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain. Northeast wind level 2-3. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

- Lowest temperature 18-21 degrees Celsius; highest 25-28 degrees Celsius, some places above 28 degrees Celsius.

Southern Vietnam

- Moderate rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain. Northeast wind level 2-3. During thunderstorms there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

- Lowest temperature 22-25 degrees Celsius, some places below 21 degrees Celsius; highest 28-31 degrees Celsius.

Ho Chi Minh City Area

- Cloudy with moderate rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain. Northeast wind level 2-3. Thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

- Lowest temperature 23-26 degrees Celsius; highest 29-32 degrees Celsius./.
