Reporting to the Prime Minister on the work results of the Vietnamese Embassy in Kuwait, the bilateral relations and the work with the Vietnamese community in the area, Vietnamese Ambassador to Kuwait Nguyen Duc Thang expressed the excitement of the representative agency and the community in waiting for the visit of the Prime Minister and his wife, which is of great importance to the Vietnam-Kuwait relationship. The Ambassador highlighted that this visit has been long awaited by both sides, and is the first visit by a senior Vietnamese leader to Kuwait in 16 years.

Although the number is not large, the Vietnamese community in Kuwait is actively contributing to the economic development and social life of Kuwait (including many Vietnamese experts who have worked for many years in Kuwait's core oil and gas sector and a number of international oil and gas corporations).

The community also always maintains the national cultural identity, builds the image of dynamic, friendly and law-abiding Vietnamese people, affirming that the community is extremely proud of Vietnam's development achievements and the country's position in recent years. The Embassy regularly organizes activities to connect, care for and protect citizens and the community.

Representatives of the Vietnamese community in Kuwait expressed their joy and pride in welcoming the Prime Minister and his wife. The meeting demonstrated the deep concern of the Government and the Prime Minister for the Vietnamese community abroad in general, and in Kuwait in particular. The community affirmed that each individual strives to be an "ambassador" of the image of Vietnam, not only working and residing, but also being a cultural and economic bridge between Vietnam and the host country.
Mr. Nguyen Kim Long, senior expert of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), reported on the great potential for oil and gas cooperation between the two countries, affirming that a big bright spot in the bilateral relationship is the sharp increase in trade turnover, and Vietnamese goods and products are beginning to appear more and more on store shelves.

Ms. Vuong Thi Van Anh, a flight attendant of Kuwait Airways, affirmed that Kuwaiti people have very good feelings and admiration for Vietnam, which is an extremely important foundation to help Vietnam become a beloved tourist destination and that traveling to Vietnam is becoming a trend with Kuwaitis - customers with very high incomes and high spending.
Ms. Duong Thuy Linh, on behalf of Vietnamese students in Kuwait, promised that each student will contribute to building bridges and fostering a sustainable and widespread network of friendship between the two countries.
Community representatives have made a number of recommendations to the Party, State and Government such as: Creating conditions for overseas Vietnamese to have easier access to online public services, opening direct flights between the two countries, more open visa policies, enhancing the promotion of tourism and culture in the area, and developing more products suitable for the Middle East market such as high-end beach tourism, family vacations, shopping, health care, beauty, especially Halal cuisine to meet the needs of Muslim tourists.

At the meeting, in a warm atmosphere, with "national love and compatriotism", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, on behalf of General Secretary To Lam and Party and State leaders, conveyed to the community warm greetings, affectionate regards and sincere feelings from his homeland.
The Prime Minister stressed that this visit is of great significance in the context of the good friendship and effective cooperation between Vietnam and Kuwait. Kuwait is the first country in the Gulf Cooperation Council and one of the first Middle Eastern countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam right after Vietnam's reunification in 1975. During this visit, the two sides will discuss upgrading the framework of relations and sign many important cooperation agreements.

After 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations, the two sides have always respected, supported, assisted each other, and shared views on many international and regional issues. Kuwait is currently Vietnam's largest trade and investment partner among the countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Two-way trade turnover in 2024 reached 7.3 billion USD. The Nghi Son petrochemical refinery project has made an important contribution to ensuring energy security, creating jobs, changing the face of the locality and contributing greatly to the budget revenue. This factory is being restructured by the parties to operate more effectively.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh informed the people about the domestic situation, especially the achievements since Doi Moi, from a devastated, besieged, embargoed country to become the 32nd largest economy in the world, with an average income per capita reaching a high average of more than 5,000 USD. The material and spiritual life of the people has increasingly improved, the happiness index has increased by 37 places, from 83rd in 2020 to 46th in 2025; during this term alone, we have spent about 1.1 million billion VND on social security, equivalent to 17% of GDP.

In 2025, in the context of the complicated and unpredictable developments in the world and region, with more difficulties and challenges than opportunities and advantages, especially complicated natural disasters and storms and floods causing heavy damage, the socio-economic situation continues to record positive results, each year is better than the previous year, especially the completion and surpassing of 15/15 main socio-economic targets, GDP growth of about over 8%, the macro-economy remains stable, socio-economic infrastructure has many breakthroughs, administrative reform, improvement of the investment and business environment are promoted, people's lives are constantly improved, politics and society are stable, national defense and security are strengthened, sovereignty and territorial integrity are maintained, foreign affairs and international integration are increasingly deep, substantial, effective and become bright spots.

The Prime Minister said that we aim for double-digit growth in the coming years, aiming to achieve two 100-year strategic goals, bringing the country into a new era of strong, prosperous, civilized and happy development; the motto is stability for development, development for stability, with the two most important goals being to maintain the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the country and to constantly improve the material and spiritual life of the people. Recently, the Politburo has issued seven resolutions and will continue to issue resolutions on important and breakthrough areas.
The Prime Minister affirmed that the great achievements of the country in the past as well as today have the contributions, sympathy and active support of the community of about 6 million Vietnamese people across five continents, including the community in Kuwait. According to the Prime Minister, one of our important pillars in building and protecting the country is the spirit of great national unity, unity within the Party, unity among the People, unity within the country, and international unity, "Unity, unity, great unity/Success, success, great success".

Appreciating the community's solidarity, mutual love, mutual support, stable life and good integration into the local society, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that our Party, State and Government always care about the community, considering the community as an inseparable part, flesh and blood, an important resource of the nation. The Party and State's policies and guidelines have been concretized with many laws, decrees and policies to support, care for, create favorable and open conditions for the community such as nationality, housing, etc.
The Prime Minister will ask the leaders of the host country to continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Kuwait to live, work stably, integrate well and become a bridge of friendship to promote the relationship between the two countries. The Prime Minister acknowledged and shared the aspirations and proposals of the people, and directed domestic agencies to implement more drastic measures to meet the legitimate aspirations of the people.

The Prime Minister said that connecting direct flights not only facilitates overseas Vietnamese to visit their homeland but also contributes to promoting tourism, attracting Kuwaiti and international tourists to Vietnam.
Instructing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy to continue to regularly listen to and receive opinions from overseas Vietnamese in the most favorable way, especially when facing difficulties and hardships and needing support and help, the Prime Minister asked overseas Vietnamese to continue the tradition of solidarity, sharing, building a strong and developing community with a high role and position in society; preserving and promoting the national cultural identity and Vietnamese language; trying to study, work well, and take advantage of learning to contribute to the country's development; and associations to continue to promote the role of connecting overseas Vietnamese and building a network of Vietnamese businesses in the host country.
