The exhibition displays 100 photographs accompanied by explanations, banners, and slogans promoting the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations on environmental protection and the prevention and control of plastic waste. It focuses on five key areas: the current situation, origins, causes, consequences, and solutions to reduce plastic waste pollution. The event aims to contribute to raising community awareness and responsibility, spreading the message of working together to build a sustainable lifestyle in harmony with nature.
In the section on the current state of plastic waste pollution, the exhibition highlights the increasing scale of plastic waste worldwide , causing serious consequences for the environment and social life. Vietnam is currently among the top 20 countries with the largest amount of plastic waste, with approximately 1.8 million tons per year, higher than the world average.
The section on the origin and causes of pollution clarifies that the pollution problem does not stem from the plastic products themselves, but mainly from improper usage habits and waste disposal practices.
The consequences of plastic waste highlight the non-biodegradable nature of this type of waste, which can persist in the environment for hundreds to thousands of years. Plastic waste alters the physical properties of the soil, causing erosion, hindering plant growth, and negatively impacting plant and animal ecosystems.
In the section on solutions to reduce plastic waste pollution, the exhibition calls on every citizen to raise their sense of responsibility, change their consumption habits, say no to single-use plastic products and plastic bags; switch to using environmentally friendly items; and actively participate in communication activities to spread a green lifestyle.
The section on organizations and individuals actively involved in preventing and combating plastic waste pollution – showcasing exemplary cases in Vietnam and around the world – highlights effective initiatives, action plans, and awareness campaigns aimed at collectively reducing plastic waste.
Dr. Le Trung Kien, Vice Principal of Kien Giang College, said that the collection of 100 photos promoting the prevention and control of plastic waste conveys a profound message to the community about the responsibility to protect the environment. Through the exhibition, the school hopes that students will translate the conveyed messages into actions in their daily lives, such as: limiting the use of single-use plastic products; properly sorting waste; maintaining a green, clean, and beautiful landscape on campus; proactively spreading a green lifestyle to family, friends, and the community… contributing to a significant change for the environment.
