Minister Nguyen Kim Son: Teachers need to do their best to be worthy of the trust and expectations of society.

On November 17, at Hanoi National University of Education, the Ministry of Education and Training held a ceremony to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20 and the 8th Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Education Sector (2025 - 2030).

The event was attended by President Luong Cuong, Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, and leaders and former leaders of the Party and State.

Many changes in the education sector

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son summarized that over the past 5 years at the general education level, the education sector has completed the implementation cycle of the new general education program 2018, in which there has been a strong shift from knowledge-based education to developing learners' capacity.

During the past time, in excellent student exams, especially in international Olympic exams, we have maintained our position in the top 10 countries with the best exam results worldwide.

Higher education has also made progress, with many universities appearing in prestigious rankings around the world. Some schools and training programs are in the top 150 in Asia. Many new training programs and new fields, especially in new cutting-edge engineering technology, have been implemented.

Vietnam's vocational education has been integrating more and more deeply and widely in the region and the world through organizing and participating in national vocational skills competitions, ASEAN and world vocational skills competitions with increasingly high scale and results.

In particular, over the past 5 years, the Party and State have paid special attention to policies for teachers. Many policy mechanisms have been built, especially the Law on Teachers passed by the National Assembly, in which the development of the teaching staff is the focus and goal.

"The teaching staff is more confident, excited and committed to the profession. It is encouraging that more candidates are applying to pedagogical majors and the scores for entering pedagogical schools are among the highest, as in recent years. This is a positive change in the depth of developing the teaching staff, towards the future of the industry and the nation," Minister Nguyen Kim Son shared.

Wishing teachers happiness in every page of lesson plans

According to Minister Nguyen Kim Son, this year's November 20 anniversary has many special features. Because, never before has the education and training sector had such a position, been entrusted with a mission and received such care and attention as it does today.

Education and training are identified as the top national policy, deciding the future of the nation. Teachers are considered the driving force for educational development, the decisive factor in the quality of education. Many new policies have been issued by the Party and the State to develop the teaching staff. The Minister said that this is a great joy, an encouragement for those working in education.

"This year, for the first time, the teaching profession has been institutionalized by the Teachers' Law. From the past until now, the teaching profession has always been considered a noble profession, and respecting teachers is a traditional value.

Up to now, with the promulgation of the Law on Teachers, the elevation of educators, the development of the teaching staff, the responsibilities and obligations of teachers, the protection of teachers... have been legalized.

"Ethics, culture and customs are now codified, creating legitimacy, sustainability and transparency for the teaching profession. This is an honor and a legal condition for teachers to promote their social role," the Minister shared.

According to the minister, the Party, the State, society, parents, and all students honor teachers and give them good feelings, respect, love, gratitude, and admiration. From there, teachers need to do their best to be worthy of the trust, care, and expectations.

All teachers need to strive to cultivate, practice, and study continuously to always be a shining example for students to follow, bright enough to shine and guide students, valuable enough to inspire and persuade, especially exemplary in personality, spirit of learning and creativity, love and justice.

With good traditions and what teachers are trying to do, Minister Nguyen Kim Son believes that teachers will do well.

"I hope teachers will always be healthy, always happy with their personal lives, with their careers, happy with each lesson plan, with each class hour and happy every minute with their students," said Minister Nguyen Kim Son.

Within the framework of the celebration and the Congress, the Minister of Education and Training awarded the emulation flag of the Ministry of Education and Training to 11 collectives with outstanding achievements, and certificates of merit of the Ministry of Education and Training to 12 collectives and 12 individuals representing 141 collectives and 174 individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Innovation and creativity in management, teaching and learning" in the period 2020 - 2025 - representing more than 62,000 educational and training institutions and nearly 1.6 million teachers and educational managers nationwide.

The Congress also approved a list of 29 delegates from the Ministry of Education and Training to attend the 11th National Patriotic Emulation Congress taking place in Hanoi in December 2025.
