On the afternoon of November 17th, the 10th Provincial People's Council of Dong Thap province, term 2021-2026, held its 5th session to carry out the process of dismissing and electing the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee of Dong Thap province for the 2021-2026 term, ensuring strict adherence to legal regulations.

The Provincial People's Council has relieved Mr. Tran Tri Quang of his position as Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term to take on a new assignment in accordance with a decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The Dong Thap Provincial People's Council nominated and elected Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai, Deputy Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, to the position of Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term with 100% of the votes from the delegates present at the meeting.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai pledged to do his utmost, together with the provincial leadership team, to guide and manage according to the motto: Comprehensive - Focused - Connected - Breakthrough for sustainable development.

"According to the Resolution of the First Congress of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, the goal is to build Dong Thap province into a rapidly developing industrial region by 2030, pioneering the construction of an ecological industry, modern rural areas, and smart farmers."

"We must make Dong Thap one of the leading developed localities in the Mekong Delta; worthy of the heroic traditions and achievements built by generations of people from Tien Giang and Dong Thap," Mr. Ngai said.

Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai, 54 years old, originally from Ca Mau province, holds a master's degree in economic law. He has previously held positions such as Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tran Van Thoi district, Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office, Secretary of the Nam Can District Party Committee, Secretary of the Ca Mau City Party Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province.

On November 17, the Party Central Committee Secretariat transferred and appointed him to the position of Deputy Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, so that the Dong Thap Provincial People's Council could elect him as Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (for the 2025-2030 term).
