According to VNA correspondent in South America, at a working session with Senator Humberto Costa on May 13, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi discussed bilateral cooperation priorities and enhanced coordination at multilateral forums, especially in responding to climate change and promoting equity in this field. The two sides shared legislative experiences, emphasized the role of parliaments in monitoring the implementation of climate commitments and agreed to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation to contribute a common voice at international mechanisms.
On November 14, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi attended the Parliamentary Conference organized by the Inter- Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Brazilian National Assembly on the sidelines of COP30, to discuss how to translate global climate commitments into transparent and equitable national actions. Delegates discussed issues such as strengthening the role of parliamentarians in mobilizing and monitoring climate finance; reducing the unequal impacts of climate change on women and girls, as well as empowering women and developing female leadership. The Conference reaffirmed the indispensable role of the legislature in ensuring effective and equitable climate action.
On the sidelines of the Conference, Ambassador Bui Van Nghi had meetings with delegations from Cambodia, China, the Marshall Islands and internationally to exchange information, enhance understanding and promote parliamentary cooperation in the field of climate.
On November 15, the Ambassador, together with a working delegation from the Department of Climate Change, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and representatives of the Vietnam Youth Action Network, attended a meeting to discuss the mechanism for monitoring, reporting, verification, technology transfer and implementation of the Paris Agreement within the framework of COP30.
