Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Festival 2025: Developing tourism associated with green agricultural brand

The 2nd Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Festival in 2025 will take place from December 27, 2025 to January 4, 2026, promising to become a unique cultural and tourism event of Dong Thap province.

According to the plan, the 2nd Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Festival is expected to welcome about 500,000 visitors during the 9 days of its existence. This is one of the biggest tourism events in Dong Thap, marking a new step forward in the strategy of developing tourism associated with local culture and agriculture .

The Flower and Ornamental Festival is not only an opportunity for visitors to admire thousands of blooming flowers, but also an opportunity for Sa Dec to introduce its agricultural strengths and traditional craft villages.

Through the festival, artisans will have the opportunity to demonstrate flower growing techniques, create artistic bonsai, and promote the Sa Dec flower brand to domestic and foreign partners. These values not only enhance the position of the locality, but also contribute to promoting agriculture, exports, and increasing income for the people.

One of the important goals of this Festival is to affirm Sa Dec as a sustainable tourist destination, associated with green agriculture and indigenous culture.

Within the framework of the Festival, there are 13 contents including Sa Dec Flower Space, Display of 1,000 varieties of ornamental flowers, Ancient Sa Dec Space, Live show "A hundred years of flower village fragrance", Mapping projection space, New Year's Countdown art program, Music night "Love of people in the land of flowers", Sa Dec Flower-Ornamental Market, "Southern fragrance" culinary street, Flower gate and flower street decoration contest, Beautiful office flower garden, Flower art display, Folk dance exchange program and Pickleball tournament.

Currently, many gardeners in Sa Dec ward and neighboring localities are rushing to prepare to welcome outstanding activities in this year's Sa Dec Flower and Ornamental Festival.

Known as the largest flower granary in the West, over the years, Sa Dec Flower Village (Sa Dec ward, Dong Thap province) with a tradition of over 100 years has affirmed its brand and continuously developed.

With their talented, skillful and delicate hands, farmers in Sa Dec Flower Village have constantly created and learned from experience to create a myriad of colorful ornamental flowers. At the same time, exploiting the potential and advantages of the flower village associated with developing eco-tourism to attract visitors from near and far.

Currently, the flower and ornamental area of Sa Dec ward is about 946 hectares, with about 2,000 types of flowers and ornamental plants. The total number of producing households is more than 4,000 households, with an output supplying the market with more than 12 million flower and ornamental products/year; the total value of flower and ornamental plant production in 2024 is estimated at about 3,300 billion VND, accounting for 79% of the province's agricultural production value.

In recent times, the sectors and levels of Dong Thap province in general and Sa Dec ward in particular have implemented many solutions to develop flower villages, including efforts to re-plan the specialized areas for ornamental flower production in accordance with the speed of socio-economic development.

Along with that, investing in synchronous infrastructure, upgrading roads and key connecting projects such as Sa Dec Square; Provincial Road 853 connecting with Provincial Road 848 extension; National Highway 80 connecting with Northwest Ring Road; Provincial Road 852B connecting Industrial Park C with Northwest Ring Road.

Nowadays, when flowers and ornamental plants have become the main products of Dong Thap province, farmers in Sa Dec Flower Village have developed their products together, creating stable output through collective economic models. Currently, the entire Sa Dec Flower Village has about 13 enterprises operating in the field of flowers and ornamental plants and 17 cooperatives, guilds, and flower and ornamental plant cooperatives - becoming places to distribute and supply flowers and ornamental plants to the domestic market and for export.

Identifying tourism as a key economic sector, Sa Dec ward has focused on developing infrastructure systems to serve tourism, exploiting specific cultural resources to develop tourism. Among them, tourism products based on the potential of craft villages, especially flower villages combined with ancient and spiritual architectural works (Huynh Thuy Le ancient house, Kien An Cung pagoda...) have attracted a large number of tourists.

In the coming time, Sa Dec ward will focus on effectively implementing the Project on Restructuring the Agricultural Sector towards developing flowers and ornamental plants into a key economic sector. Along with that, it will support farmers in converting crops, applying high technology and organic production; building a good brand of "Sa Dec Flower Village" to expand the international market./.
