While driving a motorbike from Cam Nhan commune to his home in Thac Ba commune ( Lao Cai province), Mr. Dinh Van and his wife discovered a black bag on Phuc An suspension bridge.
According to Mr. Van, a few seconds earlier, a woman had passed by the suspension bridge. Thinking it was the owner of the bag, Mr. Van honked and called out loudly, but the female driver did not turn around.

Mr. Dinh Van brought the bag to report to the commune police (Photo: Provided by the police).
"Discovering money in the bag, the couple decided to go to the Yen Thanh Commune Police Station a few hundred meters away to report, hoping the owner would soon receive the property back," he said.
At the police station, Mr. Van learned that in addition to the Vietnamese currency of more than 2 million VND, there were many foreign bills, a driver’s license, an ATM card, and some other documents. After reporting, the couple got on their motorbike and continued their journey.
On the way home, near the Ngoi Tu Community Cultural Tourism Village, he saw a young foreign man with a worried face, looking for things on the road.
"Suspecting that this was the owner of the bag, I used the translation tool on my phone to talk. My wife and I took the young man and a friend back to the police station to verify," said Mr. Van.
Through the process of checking information and comparing photos, the police confirmed that young man Eliad (Israeli nationality) was the owner of the bag.
Receiving all his belongings back, Eliad was happy and thanked Mr. Van and his wife and the police force. The young man was on a trip to many places in Vietnam.
"Before leaving, Eliad wanted to give the couple some money as a thank you. I refused to accept it because I wanted to do good deeds and help others in times of trouble," Van shared.
It is known that this is not the first time the man has picked up property. A few years ago, he found a phone and returned it to its owner.
Mr. Van is a Party member and used to be a village chief. Currently, he and his wife work as hair merchants in Thac Ba commune.
Speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Captain Nguyen Van Duy, Deputy Chief of Yen Thanh Commune Police, Lao Cai province, confirmed the incident where Mr. Van and his wife picked up a dropped bag on the road and reported it to the authorities.
After receiving the information, the commune police sent forces to verify the information with a number of accommodation establishments in the area and around Phuc An suspension bridge.

"After verifying the information matched, we handed over the property to the male tourist. Mr. Van's actions were very good, creating sympathy and impression in the eyes of foreign tourists," Mr. Duy said.
The commune police posted information about the incident on social media platforms to help spread Mr. Van's good deeds in the community.
