Welcoming the 1st Congress of Thai Nguyen Provincial Farmers' Association, term 2025-2030: Enhancing the status of farmers in the new era

In the context of agriculture and rural areas facing both opportunities and challenges, the role of farmers is increasingly evident. The past term was a pivotal period with the consolidation of organizations, adaptation to agricultural restructuring, digital transformation, building advanced new rural areas and standardizing production. The entire Thai Nguyen Farmers' Association system has made efforts to implement many solutions, leaving outstanding marks, creating a foundation for the 2025-2030 term with a long-term vision and development aspirations.

Comrade Phan Thanh Ha, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, received financial support from the University of Electricity to support the people of Thai Nguyen province to overcome the consequences of floods.

The transformation of the farmers' movement, the growth of the Association and the changes in rural areas are vivid evidence of the central role of farmers in the province's socio -economic development strategy. These achievements reflect the effectiveness of policies and strategies while demonstrating the adaptability, creativity and determination to innovate of hundreds of thousands of Thai Nguyen farmers.

Imprints of emulation movements

During the last term, the emulation movement of the Farmers' Association at all levels in Thai Nguyen province continued to spread strongly and affirmed its sustainability. The movement "Farmers compete in production and good business" attracted hundreds of thousands of households to register and achieve titles, forming many production models with high economic value.

From the tea areas of Tan Cuong, Trai Cai, La Bang to the production forests and fruit trees in Dai Tu, Vo Nhai, Ngan Son, Ba Be, etc., many new models have been implemented in the direction of safety, organic, applying microbiological products, converting varieties, expanding scale and investing in deep processing. These models help bring stable income to households, contribute to job creation, promote sustainable poverty reduction and form specialized commodity production areas.

Along with the development of household economy, the work of supporting collective economy has made remarkable progress. Hundreds of cooperatives, trade unions and professional associations have been established, creating a close connection between production, processing and consumption.

Many value chain linkage models have been implemented, helping farmers increase their competitiveness and reduce market risks. In particular, the Farmer Support Fund and capital entrusted through banks continue to be effective in supporting thousands of households to access preferential capital to expand production.

Digital transformation is considered a breakthrough of the Thai Nguyen Farmers' Association in this term. Hundreds of thousands of officials and members have been instructed to use digital platforms to serve agricultural production and consumption. Many key products of the province such as tea, processed agricultural products, and regional specialties have appeared on e-commerce platforms, and have been introduced and promoted systematically via livestream.

QR code systems, traceability, and digital booths have helped farmers reach wider customers and improve their competitiveness in the new business environment.

Social security activities, supporting members in difficulty, helping farmers overcome the consequences of natural disasters are also implemented promptly, demonstrating the Association's responsibility in caring for the interests of members and the community. This is the foundation to strengthen the trust of members and enhance the connection of farmers with the association.

Strengthening the organization and promoting the role of farmers

In recent years, the movement of farmers competing in production, good business, and economic development towards value chain linkage has been increasingly expanded in the province, bringing practical results.

In addition to the achievements of the movement, the Farmers' Association also focused on strengthening the organization and improving the quality of its staff to serve the development of modern agriculture . Accordingly, the organization of the association was firmly consolidated in both scale and quality. After the merger, the association system from the province to the grassroots level was streamlined and unified, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.

Thousands of branches have been strengthened; the quality of association activities has been gradually improved; methods of mobilizing farmers have been innovated towards being closer to the people, close to the grassroots, and closely following the development needs of each locality.

The training and development of association officials is organized on a large scale and systematically, providing knowledge on digital transformation, farmer mobilization skills, model building methods and the ability to conduct social monitoring and criticism. Thanks to that, the association's staff has clearly matured, gradually mastering the new requirements of association work in the period of strong transformation of the agricultural sector.

Social monitoring and criticism activities have been implemented more and more professionally, focusing on policies directly related to farmers such as production support, environmental protection, social security, access to land and credit capital. Many recommendations of the Association have been accepted by the authorities, contributing to improving the mechanism and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of farmers.

Along with that, the Association actively participates in the construction of new rural areas, mobilizing members to donate land, contribute their efforts, and implement criteria on infrastructure, environment, and rural economic development. The Association's contribution is one of the important factors promoting the progress of new rural construction in the province in recent years.

Towards innovation and comprehensive development

Comrade Phan Thanh Ha, Provincial Party Committee member, Central Executive Committee member of Vietnam Farmers' Union, Vice Chairman of Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of Provincial Farmers' Union, visited the booth displaying and introducing OCOP products of Thai Nguyen province at an event held in Hanoi.

Entering the 2025-2030 term, the Thai Nguyen Farmers' Association has set the goal of building a strong and comprehensive association; strongly innovating activities to further promote the role of farmers as the main subject in developing modern agriculture, rural economy and building civilized rural areas.

The action theme of the term aims at solidarity, democracy, innovation, cooperation and development, expressing the aspiration to elevate farmers in the new period.

To realize that goal, the Association identified 12 main targets and 3 key programs: Mobilizing resources to participate in collective economic development in agricultural production; promoting the role of the Farmers' Association in propagating and mobilizing members and farmers to improve the quality, brand and value of tea products of Thai Nguyen province and building a strong association in all aspects, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation.

The key solution identified by the Association is to innovate the content and methods of operation in a practical and flexible direction; link the Association's activities with the task of developing the agricultural economy of each locality; improve the quality of consulting services and support for farmers; strengthen the connection between the Association and businesses, banks, and research institutes to transfer technical advances and expand the product consumption market.

The Provincial Farmers' Association also focuses on improving the effectiveness of social supervision and criticism; proactively proposing and recommending the improvement of policies related to agriculture, farmers and rural areas; building a safe, transparent and sustainable production environment; contributing to the formation of a force of intellectual farmers, mastering science and technology and adapting well to the digital economic context.

Based on the achievements, Thai Nguyen Farmers' Association continues to affirm its role as a core force in agricultural development, rural economy and civilized rural construction. From improving organizational capacity, innovating operating methods to developing the good farmer movement, each member is the decisive factor, contributing to raising the status of farmers, arousing the desire for creativity and solidarity, bringing Thai Nguyen into a period of modern and sustainable agriculture.
