| Mediators at the People's Court of Region 1 discuss and help the parties involved in mediation. |
Ms. Pham Ngoc Linh, Judge of the People's Court of Region 1 , Thai Nguyen province, said: For the court sector, mediation and dialogue clearly demonstrate the goal of being close to the people, understanding the people, helping the people, learning from the people in judicial reform. Judges or mediators are not only those who apply the law but also those who listen, share, and help citizens resolve difficulties with sympathy and impartiality.
The People's Court of Region 1 of Thai Nguyen province currently has 8 mediators who access files every day, complete procedures and carry out mediation steps according to regulations. The mediators are mostly officials with legal experience and social understanding. They patiently listen, analyze, and guide the parties to negotiate voluntarily. Thanks to that, the parties are not only guaranteed their legitimate rights but also maintain a long-term relationship.
Mr. Phung Van Thanh, a mediator at the People's Court of Region 1, shared: In the process of receiving documents, in many cases, when first received, both sides were very tense, but thanks to the analysis with reason and emotion, they finally agreed to an agreement. Through that, I clearly saw the profound humanistic meaning of mediation work.
Mr. Tran Van Nam in Phan Dinh Phung ward, who had a land dispute with his family, expressed: If there was no mediation, my family would have taken each other to court. With the reasonable analysis of the mediation officer, we found a common voice, both to relieve our psychological stress, maintain our family relationship and keep our family land.
Since 2021 (since the Law on Mediation and Dialogue at Court took effect), the People's Courts at two levels in the province have received nearly 6,000 requests for mediation and dialogue, of which nearly 3,000 were successful, many parties withdrew their applications and reunited. The People's Court of Region 1 alone has issued 751 decisions recognizing successful mediation at Court.
Through mediation activities, many conflicting couples have found common ground, avoiding unfortunate divorces, and many civil and land disputes have been resolved amicably.
Ms. Do Thi Thanh Nhan, Deputy Chief Justice of the People's Court of Region 1, said: Mediation and dialogue work contributes to reducing social tension, preventing complaints from going to higher levels, and prolonged complaints, which have been a pressing issue for many years.
Promoting the role of the conciliation team, the People's Court of Region 1 continues to improve the quality of the conciliation team, innovate working methods, improve conciliation skills for conciliation officers, contributing to building the image of a court that is friendly, close to the people and for the people, and improving the effectiveness of the judicial innovation policy.
Not all cases need to be brought to trial, many civil disputes, family disputes or land disputes have been resolved peacefully right in court thanks to mediation and dialogue activities. With the spirit of understanding and reason, this work is becoming the "key" to help heal conflicts, save time and costs for people and contribute to reducing cases in court and maintaining stability and peace for society.
