Leveraging digital transformation to develop Dong Thap tourism

Powerful digitalization

Mr. Vo Pham Tan, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province, said that the unit continues to maintain and promote the effectiveness of the Dong Thap Provincial Tourism Information Portal and smart tourism applications on mobile devices, creating conditions for people and tourists to easily access information about destinations, services, schedules and tourism events of the province. At the same time, many tourist areas and spots in the province have deployed QR codes at sightseeing spots, supporting tourists to proactively look up information and experience electronic explanations.

In addition, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province is coordinating with relevant units in Ho Chi Minh City, provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta to build data for the 3D/360 Smart Interactive Tourism Map, with 5 languages (Vietnamese, English, French, Chinese, Spanish), supporting tourists to experience virtual tours before arriving in reality.

The unit has deployed an electronic handbook introducing a list of tourism investment promotion projects in Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, creating opportunities for investors and tourism businesses to easily access information and cooperate in developing tourism in Dong Thap province.

Thanks to the focus on promoting digital transformation, the tourism industry in Dong Thap province is gradually changing towards professionalism. Local tourism promotion and connection activities are being innovated and strongly deployed on digital platforms; information and data in the industry are gradually being interconnected, creating a common database...

Currently, in Son Quy ward, Go Cong ward, Gia Thuan commune... of Dong Thap province, tourists can find information about historical relics, tourist destinations associated with historical figures in the "spiritual land of talented people" Go Cong through the Tourism and Historical Relics Management and Promotion System on the MAP4D digital map platform.

At famous tourist attractions such as the special national relic site of Truong Dinh uprising, the provincial historical-cultural relic Tan Dong communal house..., tourists can scan QR codes placed at the tourist attractions to find information quickly, accurately and conveniently.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Ben, an expert of the Department of Culture and Society of Tan Dong commune, Dong Thap province, shared that thanks to the application of digital transformation in introducing information about historical and cultural relics on the MAP4D digital map platform, domestic and foreign tourists know about the unique Tan Dong communal house. When visiting, visitors will scan the QR code attached to the main door of the communal house to learn about the more than 1-century history of this "unique" communal house, contributing to helping this historical-cultural relic gradually become a famous tourist destination of the locality in particular and Dong Thap province in general.

A fresh, interactive experience

In particular, Dong Thap Provincial Museum has applied modern technology by using artificial intelligence (AI) - Sen Hong, a robot tour guide model, bringing visitors a new, lively and interactive experience.

The outstanding advantage of “AI-Sen Hong” is providing information quickly, diverse in genre and rich in content. The software is capable of recognizing many languages (input) of the user to respond appropriately: Vietnamese, French, English and Chinese…

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tu, a Korean student, when visiting Dong Thap Provincial Museum, was very excited to experience learning information through AI-Sen Hong. He shared: "AI-Sen Hong's Q&A dialog box is very useful and convenient in helping me as well as foreign tourists easily learn information about the history and culture of Dong Thap province quickly and accurately."

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province Vo Pham Tan said that in the coming time, the tourism industry of Dong Thap province will continue to focus on digital transformation, digitizing information and documents about destinations, aiming to form and develop a smart tourism ecosystem. In particular, the industry focuses on forming tourism products applying new technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, bringing greater added value and more unique experiences to tourists.

The above efforts have contributed to the remarkable results of tourism activities in Dong Thap province in the first months of 2025. The total number of tourists in the first 10 months of 2025 reached more than 5.4 million, reaching 74.8% of the yearly plan, of which 517,090 were international visitors, reaching 63.8% of the plan; total tourism revenue reached 3,200 billion VND, reaching 77.7% of the plan. In October 2025 alone, Dong Thap welcomed and served 379,400 tourists; of which 65,795 were international visitors; total tourism revenue reached 190 billion VND.

Dong Thap province strives to attract more than 7.2 million tourists from now until the end of the year, including 810,000 international visitors; total tourism revenue is estimated at 4,116 billion VND. Particularly for the 2026 target, Dong Thap province strives to attract 8 million tourists to the locality, including 870,000 international visitors; total tourism revenue is estimated at 4,800 billion VND.
