This year, the Department of Education and Training also encourages educational institutions throughout the province to strictly implement regulations on practicing thrift and preventing waste; at the same time, encourages schools to devote resources to organizing activities to celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day to continue supporting people in provinces and cities to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

No waste for parents

According to the Department of Education and Training, maintaining the practice of not accepting flowers, gifts and receiving guests on the occasion of the annual Vietnamese Teachers' Day is not a new practice. In fact, many provinces, cities and educational institutions across the country have also implemented this practice for quite a long time. For example, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has maintained the practice of not accepting flowers, gifts and receiving guests to celebrate the 13th Vietnamese Teachers' Day and this year continues to implement this practice.

Or like some private high schools in Dong Nai , for many years now teachers can receive flowers to congratulate Vietnamese Teachers' Day 20-11 but absolutely do not accept gifts from parents, especially cash, or other material gifts. According to the principal of a private high school in Tran Bien ward, for more than 10 years now the school has maintained the rule that teachers do not accept gifts to congratulate on 20-11, or on holidays and Tet from parents of students. This is to prevent negativity from happening, or creating an awkward situation for parents who do not have the means. When maintaining this practice, teachers do not have anything to worry about, because in fact, the school's policies and regulations are quite good. On the occasion of 20-11, the school also has a separate care and encouragement policy for teachers.

The principal of a public school in Trang Dai ward shared: The school has more than 80 classes, and every November 20, the principal's and vice principal's offices have no more space to put flowers. If every class gives a flower basket with an average price of 500,000 VND/basket, the amount of money multiplied is not small. Therefore, not giving flowers or gifts on Vietnamese Teachers' Day can save a significant amount of money for parents, especially those who are still in difficulty.

The principal also shared: Implementing the policy of the Department of Education and Training, this year the school will practice thrift, prevent and combat waste with practical actions. Accordingly, the school has thoroughly informed homeroom teachers and the parents' representatives of each class to encourage them not to give flowers to teachers in the Board of Directors. The school encourages the parents' representatives at the school level, if possible, to only give one flower basket from the class representatives to the school's teaching staff. The amount of money that parents have contributed to buy flowers for the Board of Directors can be converted into money to support people affected by natural disasters as called for by the Department of Education and Training.

Education on thrift

After the Department of Education and Training announced that they would not accept flowers, gifts, or welcome guests on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, many schools in the province responded. Principals of many schools said that the policy of the Department of Education and Training was very correct, because the whole country was implementing the Party's policy of practicing thrift, preventing waste and negativity. This policy is also humane, that is, instead of spending money to buy flowers for teachers, parents can convert it into money to support people affected by storms and floods. This makes both parents, students, and teachers feel very happy and meaningful, thereby educating students in the spirit of solidarity and love.

Mr. Hoac Cong Son, Principal of Dieu Cai High School (La Nga Commune) said: After receiving the notice from the Department of Education and Training, on November 12, the school issued a call to respond to the 43rd anniversary of Vietnam Teachers' Day with meaningful actions. Accordingly, in the celebration ceremony taking place on the morning of November 17, the school will launch a campaign for staff, teachers, students and parents to support compatriots affected by the second wave of natural disasters. The school also informed agencies, units and parents attending the ceremony that instead of giving flowers and gifts, they should convert it into money to support compatriots affected by natural disasters...

This year's 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, is not the first time the Department of Education and Training has not accepted flowers, gifts, or received guests; this has been maintained regularly for the past 5 years. First of all, this is a concrete and practical action on practicing thrift and preventing waste. Besides, it also avoids causing trouble for agencies and units; at the same time, these resources can be used to focus on other tasks that are very necessary at the end of the year.

For teachers, Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, has become a sacred day with many meanings, a day for the whole society to show affection to teachers. However, the Department of Education and Training's call for schools to respond to the practice of saving, not accepting flowers, gifts and receiving guests on Vietnamese Teachers' Day does not make teachers feel sad. Mr. Nguyen Van Vien, Principal of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School (Nhon Trach Commune) shared: "On November 20, for teachers, it is not necessary to receive flowers and gifts to have complete joy. This year, many provinces and cities were devastated by natural disasters, so if the money to buy flowers and gifts for teachers is converted into resources to support people affected by natural disasters, especially teachers in difficult areas, it will be more complete."

Mr. Do Manh Toan, Principal of Binh Long High School for the Gifted (Binh Long Ward), said: Responding to the call of the Department of Education and Training, the activities to celebrate Vietnam Teachers' Day this year were organized simply but still meaningful. Many activities such as culture, arts, and sports were cut to focus on teaching and learning. Responding to the call of the Department of Education and Training to practice thrift in organizing activities to celebrate Vietnam Teachers' Day November 20, the school also encouraged teachers, students and parents to practice thrift to support people affected by natural disasters at the flag-raising ceremony on the morning of Monday, November 17.
