On the eve of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20 this year, the yard of Krong Bong High School ( Dak Lak ) was bright with flags and flowers, and the laughter of students practicing performing arts was bustling. In a corner of the yard, two teachers quietly checked the list of disadvantaged students who were ready to award scholarships on this occasion.
They are Ms. Nguyen Thi Suong - a history teacher, a former student of the school and Mr. Le Trong Dung, a chemistry teacher. Both teachers are now 42 years old, together they went to ask for scholarships, books and transportation for their students over the past many years of school.
Losing sleep because of poor students
Over the years, Ms. Suong and Mr. Dung have quietly become a support for poor students, helping them overcome difficulties and challenges to continue their studies and nurture their dreams.
Ms. Suong said that the scholarship campaign started from situations that made her unable to sit still. Whenever she saw a student in difficulty, she immediately sought out kind-hearted people, connected with journalists to support, posted on social networks to call for help... Any student in need, she would find a way to help, not leaving out any student in difficulty.
From 2019 to now, at Krong Bong High School alone, Ms. Suong has mobilized about 2 billion VND to help students. The two Facebook groups she created have more than 600 members, regularly updating news, photos, publicizing income and expenditure and sending gratitude to each benefactor.
Over the past six years, Ms. Suong has helped more than 300 students with various levels of support, dozens of whom have gone on to university. Many students, after graduating, still send her messages asking her to convey their thanks to the benefactors, a lasting bond of kindness.
"Give me a future"
There was one case that Ms. Suong will always remember. That was in 2019 when the homeroom teacher of grade 10, Nguyen Thi Chung, had a very difficult situation and almost dropped out of school.
Chung lost his mother at a young age, and his father passed away when he was in high school. Thanks to Ms. Suong's support, Chung continued to go to school. From Chung's case, Ms. Suong became a regular fundraiser for scholarships for students without realizing it.
Another case is Kieu Ai Vi (27 years old, from village 8, Hoa Son commune). Vi's parents both suffer from mental illness, she had to quit school to take care of them in the hospital, sitting every night next to her mother between four cold iron walls and her path to study seemed blocked.
After a sleepless night, Ms. Suong woke up and wrote a letter appealing: "Please open your heart a little to give me a future." Thanks to the cooperation of many benefactors, Vi was able to apply for university and continue her studies, despite the harsh circumstances. Now the little student has graduated, has a stable job in Ho Chi Minh City and is in regular contact with her teacher.
The story of Mr. Le Trong Dung also begins with everyday details. During a visit to the Krong Bong District Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (old), he saw that the students only had a few packages of instant noodles left to fight hunger. He and his colleagues immediately pooled money to buy rice and food, then began to mobilize friends and benefactors.
Since then, he has been involved in asking for books, bags, clothes and old bicycles for poor students. Many times, he personally repaired bicycles and patched school bags just so that the students could have a means of transportation to class and not drop out of school.
Mr. Dung also set up a fund called "Support to go to school" for students of his school and neighboring schools, introducing each student's situation and asking for sponsorship from benefactors. Although the amount is not large, it is enough for the students to overcome the difficult period.
Currently, Mr. Dung's group regularly supports 26 students, of which eight students receive 1 million VND/month, and the other students receive about 300,000 VND/month.
Gratitude will help you overcome difficulties.

Teachers not only give money or gifts but also remind students to appreciate and be grateful. "Gifts are not just books or money but also the trust that people place in them. You must study well, live kindly and when you have the conditions, help others," said Ms. Suong.
Teacher Dung shared: "Every time I award scholarships, I always remind students to study hard and be worthy of the love everyone gives them. If they don't try, they will never overcome difficulties and conquer the future."
One of the students who received support was Dang Ngoc Bao Chau, a 2019 student with special circumstances: mother is blind, father is sick, and he is disabled. Thanks to Ms. Suong's connection, Chau received the "Support to School" scholarship from Tuoi Tre newspaper, which allowed him to attend university in Da Nang .
Now Chau has graduated and returned to Krong Bong to teach special education classes and tutoring in Hoa Son commune. "Without her, I probably wouldn't have been able to go this far," Chau said emotionally.
The recent case of Pham Thi Nho also touched many people. Nho was orphaned, her mother moved far away, and was at risk of dropping out of school. Thanks to Ms. Suong's connection and scholarship campaign, Nho was admitted to Da Nang University. "I always told myself to study hard so that I can help others in the same situation as me," Nho shared.
Beautiful image of teacher

Mr. Duong Kim Thach, the school's principal, commented: "Ms. Suong and Mr. Dung are the pride of Krong Bong High School. Ms. Suong is a former student of the school, now returning to teach and wholeheartedly helping the next generation, that is a beautiful image of a teacher. The work of the two teachers not only supports students to overcome difficulties but also spreads the spirit of humanity among the teaching staff. The school always respects and supports those hearts."
Teacher Thach said that where seeds of love are sown from steadfast hearts, they will reap sweet fruit. Students who received scholarships like Bao Chau, Nho, and Ai Vi now continue to sow hope for the next generation.
"The stories of students who received help and overcame difficulties will continue the stories of kindness, the spirit of overcoming difficulties and gratitude to teachers and philanthropists, who silently help students go to school," said Mr. Thach.
