Hanoi girl and her journey to achieve the title of excellent valedictorian

Bui Linh Nga, Valedictorian of Finance and Banking, Academy of Finance, is one of 95 excellent valedictorians graduating from universities and colleges in 2025, honored by Hanoi city.

In the list of 95 excellent valedictorians honored by Hanoi city in 2025, the name Bui Linh Nga, valedictorian of Finance-Banking, Academy of Finance, left a strong impression with her learning journey full of effort and progressive spirit.

With a GPA of 3.99/4 and 10 scientific research products, an international conference paper and many awards at the Academy and Ministry levels, the girl born in 2003 from Xuan Dinh ward (Hanoi) has proven that perseverance and aspiration always open the doors to success.

When entering university in 2021, Nga did not put any pressure on herself to become valedictorian. She just told herself to study hard, do her best and gradually conquer knowledge in the field she had chosen. At that time, between Economics and Finance, two "hot" majors, Nga decided to study finance because she was inspired by her relatives who were successful in this field.

Throughout her four years at university, Nga has always been consistent with her motto, setting small goals for each subject. For theoretical subjects, the young girl focused on reading documents and synthesizing knowledge according to mind maps. For practical subjects, Nga practiced situational exercises and group discussions using scientific research methods.

That effort helped Nga achieve 7 Excellent study encouragement scholarships, and receive the award for Students with outstanding achievements in Scientific Research for the entire 2021-2025 term.

Not only that, the young girl also caught up very quickly with in-depth research, a field that she initially considered "dry and difficult".

The passion for research came naturally to Nga. From articles submitted to faculty conferences, the young girl gradually improved her skills to write articles for international conferences.

At first, Nga encountered many difficulties in not knowing how to present the layout, how to build an outline or how to express according to academic standards.

“I reread the scientific research products of my seniors, took notes, analyzed, and then tried to improve each part myself. It was this process of “self-study and self-training” that made me love research even more and feel the excitement of delving into a problem,” Nga said.

As a result, Nga owns 10 research products, has 1 excellent scientific research topic at the Academy level, 1 project won an encouragement prize at the Ministry level, becoming a typical face of the Academy of Finance in research in 2023.

Nga's graduation thesis on “Capital efficiency in a state-owned construction enterprise” was highly appreciated by the council for its practicality and scientific approach.

The moment her name was called at the ceremony to honor 95 excellent valedictorians, Nga felt very proud.

“This title is not only a recognition of my efforts throughout my years of study, but also a motivation for me to continue to train and improve myself. Along with the pride comes the responsibility to preserve and promote the good values that have created this honor,” Nga shared.

As a Hanoian, born and raised in the land of a thousand years of culture, Nga is always aware of the responsibility of young people towards the capital. Although she is currently a product development and customer experience specialist at a securities company, she continues to pursue the spirit of learning, innovation and dedication.

“I will try my best to contribute my youth, knowledge and passion to Hanoi, the land that has nurtured me to adulthood. I believe that today’s honors will motivate me to live beautifully, live responsibly and become a young person who is useful to the community,” Nga shared.

Not only stopping at personal achievements, Nga aims for long-term goals, developing a career in the field of finance and banking, becoming an expert with solid professional capacity and especially contributing to promoting sustainable and transparent financial solutions for businesses in the capital.
