In the joyful atmosphere to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnamese Education sector and the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, on the morning of November 16, To Hien Thanh High School (Hac Thanh Ward, Thanh Hoa) solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The ceremony was attended by leaders of the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training, leaders of Hac Thanh Ward, generations of staff, teachers, students, delegates and guests.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tai Quyen - Principal of the school emphasized: The 30th anniversary of the school's establishment is an opportunity to express gratitude to generations of teachers and staff who have devoted their lives and to acknowledge the persistent efforts of generations of students. This is also a moment for the school to look back on the past journey and clearly define its development goals in the context of the entire education sector undergoing fundamental and comprehensive reform.
Overcoming difficulties to assert oneself
To Hien Thanh High School was established under Decision No. 1680 dated September 9, 1995 of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province, with the original name of To Hien Thanh Semi-Public High School. The establishment of the new school aims to meet the increasing learning needs of students in the area and demonstrates the province's strategic vision in expanding the educational network.

In the early days, the school had only seven teachers and 152 students, and had to borrow the premises of Ly Tu Trong Primary School for teaching. Despite all the shortages, no solid classrooms, no fences, and even no electricity, the first generation of teachers still persevered in their classes, maintained the school, and laid the foundation for the tradition of solidarity, overcoming difficulties, teaching well, and studying well.
In the 1996-1997 school year, the school took over the old factory building of K2 Construction Company to renovate into an official school. The first three classrooms, built on a land still full of weeds, became a symbol of the will to build the school from scratch. Since then, the facilities have been continuously invested in; by the 2003-2004 school year, the school had 29 classes with 1,700 students, marking a remarkable development.
The period 2005 - 2010 was a period of great challenges when the school changed its operating model. Reduced enrollment, low tuition fees, limited income, and delayed teacher salaries had a severe impact on teaching activities. However, in this difficult time, the qualities of teacher To Hien Thanh shone even brighter. Lectures were still complete, discipline was still maintained, and generations of students continued to grow steadily.

An important milestone came in May 2010, when the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee decided to convert 24 semi-public schools into public schools. This was both an opportunity to improve the quality of education and a big challenge due to low entrance scores and limited facilities. The school has resolutely tightened discipline, innovated teaching methods, improved the quality of staff, and gradually changed society's prejudices about the school.
After 30 years, from a school with many difficulties, To Hien Thanh High School has become a prestigious educational institution, affirming its clear position in the high school education system of Thanh Hoa province.
Persistent efforts to improve the quality of education
Up to now, the school's staff has increased to 74 people, 100% qualified, nearly 45% have master's and doctoral degrees. This is an important foundation for effectively implementing the new general education program and improving teaching quality.
From its inception with only two party members, the school's Party Committee now has 44 party members, accounting for 63.7% of the total number of teachers and staff. For many consecutive years, the school's Party Committee has been recognized as clean and strong, with 100% of party members completing their tasks well.

The school union is a warm home, always taking care of the lives of teachers and staff. The Youth Union plays a pioneering and exemplary role, leading students to participate in movements. Over the past three decades, many teachers and staff have been honored with the titles of Emulation Fighters at the grassroots level, Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training , the Provincial People's Committee and the Prime Minister.
Many teachers have achieved the title of excellent teachers at the provincial level, notably Mr. Tran Quoc Quan, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, Mr. Le Nhu Phuong, Mr. Tao Quang Tung, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoan. In the 2025-2026 school year alone, the school will have three more teachers achieving excellent teaching hours at the provincial level.
The movement of scientific research and innovation in teaching methods has been strongly maintained. Nearly 100 initiatives of 42 teachers have been recognized at the provincial level, many of which have achieved A, B, and C grades. Students' scientific and technical projects have repeatedly won high prizes, notably the project "THT Floating Ambulance Stretcher" which won second prize at the provincial level and was displayed at the exhibition to welcome the 19th Provincial Party Congress.

Regarding students, the spearhead movement continues to develop. More than 200 provincial-level excellent student awards, the rate of good and fair conduct always reaches 85 - 98%, the rate of good and excellent academic performance reaches 25 - 40%, each year 80 - 90% of students pass university and college entrance exams. Many students have achieved outstanding results such as Nguyen Vu Hoang won the national prize in the Youth Creativity Contest, Tran Doan Minh Nguyen brought the final match of the 19th "Echo of Thanh land" to television.
In sports, many students have won national medals, notably Duong Ba Gia Bao winning the national U17 chess gold medal. Every year, the school's student delegation has achieved high results in the Phu Dong Sports Festival and the national defense and security education sports festival.
After 30 years, the school has trained more than 12,000 students, many of whom are now holding important positions in society, such as Dr. Nguyen Xuan Anh, Dr. Hoang Thi Kim Cuc, lecturer Nguyen Manh Ha, and researcher Tran Van Trong. Some students have returned to their hometown school to work, continuing the To Hien Thanh tradition.

Along with professional work, the Party, Trade Union, Youth Union, Parents' Association, Education Promotion Association and Red Cross have made important contributions to the development of the school. Socialization work has been effectively implemented, supporting the construction of facilities and awarding dozens of scholarships each year to disadvantaged students. The school has contributed over 100 million VND to humanitarian programs and community activities launched by the Provincial People's Committee.
New aspirations on the journey to age 30
Speaking at the ceremony, the school leaders expressed their deep gratitude to generations of teachers and staff who have devoted their hearts to the school's development, and thanked the provincial leaders, the Department of Education and Training, Hac Thanh ward and organizations and unions for always accompanying and supporting.

The greatest joy of the festival is to welcome the generations of former students back, bringing with them their achievements and sincere feelings for their old school. That is a great source of encouragement for teachers and the current generation of students.
In front of all students, the school leaders said: “Despite the many difficulties, each of you should persevere in training, strive to overcome yourself, and appreciate the help of teachers and friends to continue writing your dreams. The school has full faith in you.”

Entering its 30th year, To Hien Thanh High School aims to continue to improve its overall quality, enhance education in life skills and values, promote innovation in teaching methods, invest in green, clean, and beautiful facilities, and strive to bring the school on par with strong public schools in Thanh Hoa province.
Closing the ceremony, the school's teaching staff expressed their determination to unite, be creative, and compete to teach well and study well as beloved Uncle Ho had instructed, continuing to write new, brilliant pages in the development journey of To Hien Thanh High School.
