Cao Bang City High School: A place to nurture talent by the Bang River

With a tradition of nearly 70 years of construction and development, Cao Bang City High School is not only known for its many outstanding educational achievements but also a place where students can develop their abilities, strengths and nurture their souls through creative and inspirational activities.

On the yard of Cao Bang City High School on an early November afternoon, when the clock hands pointed to 4:45 p.m., lively music suddenly rang out. Meritorious Teacher Pham Minh Huong, Party Secretary and Principal of the school, shared: “As soon as the regular school hours are over, the students go down to the yard to practice their favorite arts. Every day at school will be a happy day.”

Groups of students enthusiastically practiced dancing, singing, and choreographing performances. The atmosphere was lively and full of energy, clearly showing the joy, confidence, and desire to express themselves of youth. That space was like a miniature "talent center" in the heart of Cao Bang city.

According to teacher Pham Minh Huong, to have such an inspiring learning environment, the school has built a system of well-organized talent clubs such as: dance, arts, sports , fine arts, media, photography... Each club has strict operating regulations, built and run by the students themselves under the guidance of the teacher in charge.

Thanks to this operating model, over the years, the school has always won many high prizes in provincial cultural and artistic competitions. Notably, in 2024, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the whole school's students staged a theatrical art program with more than 300 actors, recreating the Dien Bien Phu campaign. The program left a deep echo, spreading on social networks with compliments of "professional like a real artist".

The Dance Club brought great joy when it won first prize in the 2024 Summer Provincial "Green Dance" Festival.

The school’s Media Club also operates effectively. During each break, students send “what they want to say”, share their feelings, gratitude to teachers or messages of love through the school radio system. Meanwhile, members of the “Discovering Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark” Club take on the role of presenters at international conferences, contributing to promoting the image of their homeland to friends at home and abroad.

Education of ideals, ethics and civic consciousness

Not only does it foster talent, Cao Bang City High School also focuses on educating students on ethics, lifestyle, and legal awareness. Every year, the school coordinates with the Traffic Police Department of Cao Bang Province to organize live propaganda sessions on traffic safety.

In addition, the school maintains a shock team that regularly monitors compliance with school regulations. Every morning, teachers and shock team members are on duty at the school gate to remind students to wear helmets and ride properly.

The work of educating on ideals, ethics and lifestyle is carried out in many diverse forms: flag salutes, extracurricular activities, journeys to the source, visits to historical sites... The school also trains outstanding union members, organizes Party admission for students at historical sites, helping to arouse pride and sense of responsibility in the young generation.

Along with comprehensive education, the school always innovates, focuses on improving the quality of teaching and learning, thereby maintaining its position at the top of the province. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school won 67 city-level excellent student awards and 43 provincial-level awards (71.7% of students participating in the competition won). In the 2024-2025 school year, it continued to win 65 city-level awards and 40 provincial-level awards.

The school promotes innovation in teaching methods towards developing students' capacity; encourages students to conduct scientific research and creative experiences. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school has 5 projects participating in the Provincial Science and Technology Research Competition and all won prizes; 1 product won the National Encouragement Prize in the National Youth and Children's Creativity Competition.

The teaching staff is also a source of great pride. The school currently has 77 staff members. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school has 26 teachers achieving the title of excellent teachers at the provincial level, and 34 initiatives have been recognized for their effective application.

For nearly 70 years, Cao Bang City High School has been preserving the beauty of a school by the Bang River, nurturing knowledge, personality and aspirations for generations of students.

In 1956, Cao Bang province established the first high school named after the communist soldier Hoang Dinh Giong in Cao Bang town - now Cao Bang City High School. With a long history of achievements over the past 70 years, the school was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal from the State in 1996; Second Class Labor Medal in 2001; First Class Labor Medal in 2013; National Standard High School in 2016.
