Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that over the past 50 years, with the efforts of the entire system and the attention of the city's leaders, the city's education and training sector has achieved outstanding achievements.
According to Mr. Hieu, Ho Chi Minh City has invested in building a widespread school system. In particular, after the organization of the two-level local government and the merger of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Binh Duong , the target of 300 classrooms per 10,000 students was included in the Resolution of the first City Party Congress.
Another important highlight is the popularization of English among students, anticipating the Politburo's policy of gradually making English the second language in schools.
Another major achievement is the implementation of the digital transformation policy. The city has initiated investment in a "digital school" system with the goal of reaching 100 digital schools by 2025. However, thanks to the efforts of educational institutions, the city has recognized 1,000 digital schools. "Through the exhibition, the education and training sector hopes that students and teachers will look back at the development process from simple classrooms, lacking desks, chairs and teaching aids to the effective eradication of illiteracy and remarkable development as today. From there, the whole sector will be determined to work together in the goal of building Ho Chi Minh City into a major educational center of the country and the region, contributing to training high-quality human resources for the country," Mr. Hieu emphasized.
