Promoting the colorful heritage of the highlands.
2025 marks the first time the "Da Nang Cultural Heritage Festival" program will be held simultaneously at three locations of the Da Nang Museum, featuring diverse and attractive activities for locals and tourists. Specifically, at the Da Nang Museum (31 Tran Phu Street, Hai Chau Ward), there will be three exhibitions: "The Colorful Culture of the Highlands of Da Nang," an exhibition of traditional costumes of ethnic minorities with the theme "Colors of Thread," and an exhibition of Co Tu wood carvings with the theme "The Soul of Wood."
In addition to promoting the image and admiring statues and reliefs depicting the cultural life of the ethnic minority groups in Da Nang, including the Co Tu, Xo Dang, Gie Trieng, Cor, and Bhnong, the public has the opportunity to learn about and explore the process and methods of making the traditional costumes of these five ethnic minority groups in the mountainous region of Da Nang.
At the Da Nang Museum located at 42 Bach Dang Street, Hai Chau Ward, there will be performances of traditional folk songs and dances of ethnic minorities; a space showcasing the traditional kitchens of the Co Tu and Ca Dong people; and a space introducing traditional handicrafts and agricultural products of the Co Tu and Ca Dong people.
Meanwhile, the Da Nang Museum, Branch 2 (Ban Thach Ward), organized a visit for students to an exhibition space showcasing the cultural life of the Cor people and participated in an experiential activity: decorating the Nêu tree and the Gu set of the Cor people - a national intangible cultural heritage.
Notably, this year's program will feature the event "Co Tu-Gether Cultural Experience: Exploring the Village Together". According to the Da Nang Museum, the event aims to introduce and promote the culture of the Co Tu ethnic group in Da Nang to a younger audience.
The event combines multi-platform communication and hands-on activities, enabling young people to access culture through both digital and physical environments. The three main activities of the event are: displaying highland products; experiencing and interacting with local customs and cuisine ; and conversing with artisans from the Co Tu ethnic group.
According to Mr. Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien, Director of the Da Nang Museum, the program is organized with this theme with the desire to introduce, promote, and honor the unique cultural values of the ethnic minority groups living in the city; and at the same time, demonstrate the cohesion and convergence of ethnic groups within the city.
Contributing to stimulating tourism in mountainous regions.
Through their work, daily life, and interactions with nature, the people of western Da Nang have accumulated a wealth of life experiences and created unique and distinctive cultural identities. These traditional values not only enrich the city's cultural heritage but also provide valuable material for developing tourism products linked to local cultural experiences.

In the upcoming program celebrating Vietnam's Cultural Heritage Day, many items such as brocade fabrics, woven products from bamboo and rattan, and high-quality packaged agricultural products grown and harvested by ethnic minority communities will have more opportunities to access the market.
At the same time, visitors will also have the opportunity to access and experience many traditional handicraft production processes such as brocade weaving, basket weaving, making buffalo horn-shaped cakes, Phu Tuc rice wine, bead stringing, bracelet making, etc. Through these activities, visitors will have more opportunities to access and gain a new perspective on the unique culture of the highlands of Da Nang, which can then guide future trips to explore this region in more depth.
Ms. Tran Thi Thu Oanh, representative of the International Relief and Development Organization (FIDR), said: "When tourists directly experience the process of making traditional handicrafts of the ethnic minorities, such as brocade weaving, they will understand the meticulousness and production knowledge of each product and will empathize with the price that they previously thought was quite high."
Not limited to the Da Nang Museum, many organizations, units, and businesses in the city have recently been regularly integrating the promotion of highland cultural values into events and festivals. This has significantly contributed to stimulating tourism and spreading the beauty of Da Nang's mountainous region.
Mr. Le Quoc Viet, Chairman of the Quang Nam Destination Club for Preserving Local Values (Da Nang City Tourism Association), believes that many community villages in the western part of the city are truly attractive because they still retain their distinctive cultural features. The joint efforts of all parties to promote and build a foundation for tourism development in this region will not only help Da Nang expand its tourism development space but also provide a sustainable path to improve the livelihoods of the local people.
