Identifying skills education as the foundation for shaping students' personality and life skills, Song Cong High School ( Thai Nguyen ) has proactively implemented many practical activities, connecting knowledge, experience and practice. Each program is organized to help students equip themselves with skills to live safely, confidently and responsibly.

Right from the beginning of the school year, the school launched Traffic Safety Month and organized propaganda for the Road Traffic Law in a lively and friendly way. The propaganda play created a memorable highlight, an interesting creation, recreating common situations when participating in traffic. With natural acting and a clear message, the play spread awareness of safe traffic culture, receiving enthusiastic cheers from students throughout the school.

The school organizes extracurricular programs on traffic safety, bringing many useful things to students.

In order to bring high efficiency in educational activities, the school also focuses on giving students direct experience and practice. In the fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue skills education program, students are specifically instructed by the Fire Police Department on the causes of fires and explosions, escape skills, and methods of handling emergency situations. Students can observe firsthand, use fire extinguishers themselves, try out simulated situations, practice calmness, teamwork and discipline. This activity is part of the "Safe School - Proactive Students" program series, aiming at the motto of learning while doing, practicing survival skills and awareness of protecting themselves and the community.

In parallel, the school organized a forum called “Building beautiful friendships - Say no to school violence”, helping students gain a deeper understanding of the value of friendship, knowing how to share, respect and support each other in study and life. Situations were presented for students to discuss and respond appropriately, contributing to building a safe, friendly and non-violent school environment. Integrated with the forum was the “Golden Bell” contest with the theme of Preventing the harmful effects of drugs, tobacco and e-cigarettes. 39 contestants representing 39 classes participated in the competition, not only to test their abilities but also to equip themselves with legal knowledge, better understand the harmful effects of addictive substances and skills to protect themselves from negative temptations.

Through a series of diverse and close activities, the school has helped students form essential skills, from awareness, action to positive attitudes. That is the important luggage, helping them confidently step into life in today's turbulent and challenging era.

Fostering love and community responsibility

While skills education helps students learn to live confidently and proactively, cultivating the qualities of love and community responsibility helps them learn to live kindly, to share and to sympathize. At Song Cong High School, these values are not only taught through words but are demonstrated through concrete, sincere and humane actions.

In October 2025, when storm Matmo severely affected many localities in Thai Nguyen province, the school's staff and teachers quickly launched the movement "The whole leaves cover the torn leaves - Teachers share love". Immediately after the flood receded, teachers were present at the affected families to visit, help clean up and encourage their spirits. The school also called on all staff, teachers and employees to support colleagues in difficulty, raising 28.4 million VND and many meaningful gifts. These simple but meaningful actions lit a fire of solidarity and deep sharing.

Teachers and students of the school supported other schools to clean up and overcome the consequences of floods.

Not only stopping at the internal scope, the spirit of sharing also spread to the community. The Board of Directors, teachers and parents of the school visited and gave gifts to other schools that suffered damage after the storm. At Dong Hy High School and Duong Tu Minh High School, the working group gave a total of 78.1 million VND, including cash and more than 5,000 notebooks. This is a gift carrying the affection, responsibility and trust between colleagues and schools that share the same educational roof of Thai Nguyen.

At the same time, the school's youth also demonstrated their pioneering role through three volunteer groups supporting heavily affected areas: Thai Nguyen High School for the Gifted, Soi Coc village and Trung Thanh Ward People's Committee. In the face of deep mud, the students' hands were still diligently sweeping and restoring the landscape, spreading the spirit of "Where there is a need, there is youth; where there is difficulty, there is youth". The students' sweat, smiles and spirit of sharing without fear of hardship are vivid proof of the sense of community responsibility of today's young generation.

From seemingly small but meaningful actions, Song Cong High School has planted seeds of compassion and community spirit in the students’ souls. That is the solid foundation for each student to grow up not only with knowledge and skills but also with a heart that knows how to love and share.

“ We want each student to not only be confident and proactive in their studies and life, but also to appreciate the value of friendship, family and community, to live responsibly, empathically and be willing to contribute to society. This is the core goal of comprehensive education at the school. Education is not only about teaching knowledge, but more importantly, it is about training life skills, shaping personality and developing the qualities of love and sharing, ” emphasized Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huynh, Principal of the school.
