Effectiveness of vocational training activities
Implementing Project 5 on Education and Training Development to Improve the Quality of Human Resources under the National Target Program under the National Target Program on Socio -Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas and other ethnic policies, thousands of workers in ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Thai Nguyen province have had stable jobs, contributing to improving their lives.
Ms. Nong Thi Tuyen used to be the owner of a small restaurant in Kunming commune with simple dishes to serve regular customers. In 2024, she attended a cooking class organized by the Women's Union. After the course, she learned many skills in preparing and presenting dishes and ensuring food hygiene and safety. Thanks to that, the restaurant's menu became more diverse, the number of customers increased, and the family income doubled compared to before. Ms. Tuyen shared: The class helped me learn many new dishes and pay more attention to the service style. Thanks to that, the restaurant has more customers, and the family's life is more prosperous.

Implementing the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas by 2025, recently, the People's Committee of Con Minh Commune coordinated with Hitech Hanoi Training Center Co., Ltd. to organize the Opening Ceremony of the "Online Business" vocational training class for 35 workers in the commune.
For 2 consecutive months, students were equipped with basic knowledge and skills in digital sales, online booth design, product promotion via social networks such as photography, video recording, writing advertising content and order management skills... Organizing vocational training classes suitable to actual needs contributes to improving the quality of human resources, creating sustainable livelihoods, promoting digital transformation in the agricultural and rural economic sectors; thereby contributing to effectively implementing the socio-economic development goals of ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
Not only in Kunming, the short-term vocational training model is being widely deployed throughout Thai Nguyen. Recently, the Cho Moi Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center in collaboration with the People's Committee of Tan Ky commune opened 4 short-term vocational training classes for rural workers in areas such as afforestation, animal husbandry, and crop cultivation techniques. This is an activity within the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
Ms. Do Thi Tuyet, a student of the chicken raising class, said: Thanks to the specific instructions, I know how to prevent and treat diseases in chicken flocks and apply them to my family's farming model. As a result, productivity and income have both increased.
Not only short-term vocational training, vocational training facilities in the province are also invested in systematically. Thai Nguyen Vocational College is currently organizing intermediate vocational classes for the 2025-2027 term at 3 facilities and 2 vocational education - continuing education centers, attracting nearly 800 students to study majors such as food processing, industrial electricity, fashion sewing, information technology... These majors are all linked to market demand, helping students easily find jobs after graduation.
Prioritize investment resources for education and career development
According to the reported data of 80 communes and wards in ethnic minority and mountainous areas in Thai Nguyen province, up to now, the total number of ethnic minority workers is 452,302 people. The total number of ethnic minority workers trained in appropriate occupations is 262,603 people, accounting for 58.06% of the total number of ethnic minority workers. This is the foundation for shifting the labor structure, increasing the ability to escape poverty and access non-agricultural jobs.
In fact, in recent years, Thai Nguyen province has prioritized investing resources in vocational training and job creation in ethnic minority areas. The province has effectively used capital from the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction and the Socio-Economic Development Program for Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2025 period, focusing on supporting short-term vocational classes, career guidance, and job counseling.

In the 2021-2025 period alone, the province has allocated more than VND216 billion for vocational education development projects, creating sustainable jobs in disadvantaged areas, focusing on supporting people from poor, near-poor and newly escaped-poverty households. Along with that, departments and branches have organized nearly 600 short-term vocational training classes for rural workers and more than 150 consulting conferences for workers wishing to work abroad.
In addition, Thai Nguyen also opened language training classes for nearly 150 workers preparing to go to Korea; at the same time, it improved the capacity of vocational teachers. Thanks to that, the skill level and practical application ability of rural workers are increasingly improved, many people have stable jobs, and their income has improved significantly.
In fact, promoting vocational education and creating jobs for ethnic minority and mountainous laborers not only has economic significance, but also contributes to narrowing the development gap, promoting labor restructuring, and moving towards sustainable development. This is the right and practical direction, demonstrating the concern of the Party, State and local authorities for the lives of people in the highlands.
