The Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee decided to declare a natural disaster emergency situation for the Prenn Pass road, section Km224+600-Km224+700, Xuan Huong ward - Da Lat.
According to the decision, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rains , at about 9:00 a.m. on November 17, on the Prenn Pass route, from Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City, the section Km224+600-Km224+700 experienced a landslide of about 7.5m in width of the road surface and the negative slope retaining wall, with the risk of further landslides if emergency response measures are not taken promptly.
In the decision, the Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to direct relevant units to maintain warnings at the landslide section on Prenn Pass; arrange permanent personnel to monitor the current status of the landslide and coordinate traffic diversion; ensure traffic circulation and implement safety measures for people and vehicles participating in traffic through the route; coordinate with the project investor and relevant units to survey, evaluate, determine the preliminary cause, propose solutions to handle and ensure traffic safety in the immediate future to advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue an Emergency Construction Order.
Assign the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat to coordinate with relevant agencies to resolutely relocate and evacuate households in the foothills, mountains, and areas with dangerous steep slopes in the above-mentioned landslide area, to ensure absolute safety for people's lives and property. After the relocation, maintain a 24/7 patrol force, absolutely do not let people return until safety is guaranteed.
The Provincial Civil Defense Command coordinates with relevant units and localities in monitoring the development of natural disasters and the implementation of disaster response solutions. Departments, branches, sectors, the Provincial Military Command, and the Provincial Police, according to their functions and tasks, proactively develop emergency response plans and overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
As reported by Nhan Dan Newspaper, after receiving information about the serious landslide at Prenn Pass, on the morning of November 17, Lam Dong provincial leaders arrived at the scene to direct the troubleshooting. Currently, the authorities have announced a ban on people and vehicles passing through the landslide and are guiding traffic in and out of Da Lat city center to proceed with the repair of the landslide on Prenn Pass.
