The Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province has decided to declare a state of emergency due to natural disaster on the Prenn Pass road section from Km224+600 to Km224+700, in Xuan Huong ward, Da Lat city.
According to the decision, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rains , at approximately 9:00 AM on November 17th, a landslide occurred on the Prenn Pass road, heading from Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City, between Km224+600 and Km224+700, affecting approximately 7.5 meters of the road surface and retaining wall. There is a risk of further landslides if emergency response measures are not taken promptly.
In the decision, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Lam Dong province assigned the Department of Construction to direct relevant units to maintain warning systems at the landslide section on Prenn Pass; to assign personnel to monitor the current state of the landslide site and coordinate traffic diversion; to ensure traffic flow and implement safety measures for people and vehicles traveling through the section; to coordinate with the project investor and relevant units to survey, assess, and preliminarily determine the cause, and propose solutions to address and remedy the situation in the short term, in order to advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue an emergency construction order.
The People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward, Da Lat City, is tasked with coordinating with relevant agencies to resolutely relocate and evacuate residents in the foothills, mountainous areas, and areas with steep slopes and dangerous landslide zones mentioned above, in order to ensure the absolute safety of people's lives and property. After relocation, maintain a 24/7 monitoring force and absolutely prevent people from returning until safety is guaranteed.
The Provincial Civil Defense Command coordinates with relevant units and localities in monitoring the developments of natural disasters and the implementation of disaster response measures. Departments, agencies, the Provincial Military Command, and the Provincial Police Department, according to their functions and duties, proactively develop emergency response plans and address the consequences of natural disasters.
As reported by Nhan Dan Newspaper, after receiving information about the serious landslide on Prenn Pass, on the morning of November 17th, the leaders of Lam Dong province went to the scene to direct the khắc phục sự cố (rectification of the incident). Currently, the authorities have announced a ban on people and vehicles passing through the landslide area and directed traffic to and from the center of Da Lat to carry out landslide remediation on Prenn Pass.
