Bang Mac commune was established on the basis of merging 4 communes: Bang Mac, Bang Huu, Thuong Cuong and Gia Loc. Before the merger, Bang Mac and Thuong Cuong communes had achieved advanced NTM standards, Bang Huu and Gia Loc communes had achieved NTM standards. In each commune, the "Red Sunday" movement to join hands to build NTM was implemented and maintained, becoming a community practice. After the merger (July 1, 2025), Bang Mac Commune People's Committee inherited and developed this movement into "Green Sunday", aiming to create consensus, solidarity and promote the sense of responsibility of the people, contributing to building NTM.
Mr. Hoang Van Trung, Vice Chairman of Bang Mac Commune People's Committee, said: We determined that "Green Sunday" is not only simply cleaning the environment but also an opportunity for cadres and party members to get close to the people, and together with the people to beautify the homeland. After implementing the two-level local government model and stabilizing the organizational structure, in August 2025, the Commune People's Committee issued a plan to organize and implement "Green Sunday", unifying the organization on the third Sunday of every month, mobilizing the entire political system to participate.
Accordingly, the Commune People's Committee assigned departments and specialized units in charge of the area to advise the Commune People's Committee on organizing the implementation of the contents according to the plan. Specifically, the contents of "Green Sunday" focus on propagating the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State and environmental protection; propagating and mobilizing people to change their awareness of environmental protection; collecting and classifying household waste, cleaning village roads and alleys; dredging sewers and ditches; planting trees and building flower roads...
From August 2025 to October 2025, the commune organized three simultaneous campaigns across the area. 30/30 villages, along with schools, medical stations, police, and the Commune Military Command, all responded positively. In just three campaigns, the entire commune mobilized over 5,600 people to participate, sweeping and clearing 92.1 km of roads; trimming 12.1 km of green fences; collecting waste, clearing sewers, and beautifying the grounds of the village cultural house, commune headquarters, and schools. In addition, the movement was also associated with many specific activities such as installing solar lights, pouring concrete on playgrounds, and supporting the construction of model new-style rural residential areas in 4 villages: Cao Minh, Lang Tuong, Phuc Lung, and Nam Noi.
Ms. Nong Thi Thuy, Cao Minh village said: Every "Green Sunday", every household voluntarily participates in cleaning the village roads and alleys. Looking at the clean village roads and green fences, everyone feels excited. Besides participating in cleaning, people in our village also participate in activities such as leveling rural roads, installing solar energy lights, supporting relocation, building barns, house gates... contributing to the village completing the task of building a model new rural residential area.
Not stopping there, the movement has also become a glue that binds the community. Many villages proactively maintain weekly activities, establish self-managed environmental sanitation groups, mobilize people to keep the campus clean, and plant trees along the roads. Mr. Linh Van The, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Lang Nong Village, said: The village has 78 households with 383 people. Before the merger, the village still carried out environmental sanitation activities, pruning trees on weekends... After the merger, the Commune People's Committee deployed and reorganized the movement, so the village did not need to mobilize, people voluntarily did it, considering keeping the village roads clean as their own family's job.
Thanks to specific methods, Bang Mac commune has maintained and firmly consolidated criterion No. 17 on environment and food safety in building new rural areas. Through review, Bang Mac commune has achieved 15/19 new rural criteria, including criterion No. 17 on environment and food safety. Up to now, the appearance of the countryside has become increasingly spacious and clean; the landscape, infrastructure and spiritual life of the people have all been significantly improved.
Currently, Bang Mac is one of the communes that has successfully implemented the "Green Sunday" movement, promoting the spirit of solidarity and responsibility of cadres, civil servants, public employees and people in the area. This movement has also become a regular lifestyle, a beautiful lifestyle deeply ingrained in the consciousness of the people. In the coming time, the commune will continue to maintain and effectively implement the "Green Sunday" movement associated with building a new rural area, keeping Bang Mac always bright - green - clean - beautiful, increasingly developing and becoming a livable countryside.
