The strong cold air mass continues to move southward.

The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting predicts that around the afternoon and night of November 17th, this cold air mass will affect the Northeast and North Central regions, and then the Northwest and Central regions. On land, the northeast wind will be strong at level 3-4, and in coastal areas at level 4-5.

On November 17-18, the Northern region will experience rain, showers, and thunderstorms in some areas. From the night of November 17, the midland and lowland areas of the Northern region and North Central region will experience cold weather, with the mountainous areas of the Northern region experiencing severe cold, and some high mountainous areas experiencing extreme cold. The lowest temperatures during this cold spell in the midland and lowland areas of the Northern region and North Central region will generally range from 12-15 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas from 9-12 degrees Celsius, and in some high mountainous areas below 8 degrees Celsius.

In Hanoi, there will be rain and showers on November 17-18, and the weather will turn cold from the night of November 17. The lowest temperature during this cold spell will generally be 13-15 degrees Celsius.

At sea, from the evening and night of November 17th, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the northeast wind will gradually strengthen to level 7, sometimes level 8, gusting to level 9, with rough seas and waves 3-5m high; in the northern South China Sea, the northeast wind will gradually strengthen to level 7-8, gusting to level 9-10, with rough seas and waves 4-6m high; from November 18th, in the area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, the northeast wind will gradually strengthen to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9, with rough seas and waves 4-6m high.

Due to the influence of a strengthening cold front combined with disturbances in the upper easterly wind zone, widespread heavy rain is occurring in the area from Ha Tinh to Khanh Hoa.

Accordingly, from November 16th to the morning of November 18th, the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang City, and the eastern parts of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces will experience heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall amounts generally ranging from 200-400mm, and in some localized areas exceeding 550mm.

The Ha Tinh area, the eastern part of Dak Lak province, and Khanh Hoa province will experience heavy rain, with some areas receiving very heavy rain, with rainfall amounts generally ranging from 100-250mm, and some areas exceeding 350mm.

In the western part of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak, there will be moderate to heavy rain with rainfall amounts generally ranging from 50-100mm, and in some localized areas, very heavy rain exceeding 200mm. There is a risk of heavy rainfall exceeding 200mm/3h.

Throughout the day and night of November 16th, the Southern region experienced moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing very heavy rain. Rainfall amounts generally ranged from 20-40mm, with some areas receiving over 80mm.   During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting issues a warning.   On November 18th, day and night, the areas of Hue City, Da Nang City, and the eastern parts of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces experienced heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall amounts generally ranging from 100-200mm, and locally exceeding 300mm; the area from Ha Tinh to Quang Tri, the eastern part of Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa provinces received 50-100mm, with locally exceeding 150mm; the western parts of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak received rainfall generally ranging from 40-80mm, with locally exceeding 150mm.

Total rainfall from the morning of November 16th to the end of the night of November 18th in the area from Quang Tri   Rainfall amounts to Da Nang City, eastern Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces are generally 300-600mm/period, with some areas experiencing over 850mm/period. Ha Tinh, eastern Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa provinces are also experiencing widespread rainfall.   150-350mm/period, with some areas experiencing over 500mm/period; western areas of Quang Ninh province.   From Ngai to Dak Lak, rainfall is generally between 100-200mm per event, with some areas receiving over 350mm per event.

From November 19th, heavy rain will continue to occur over a wide area in Da Nang City and the provinces from Quang Ngai to Khanh Hoa.

Lam Dong and Southern Vietnam   There will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially during the night of November 17-18, with scattered showers and thunderstorms, and locally heavy rain. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.
