The atmosphere of enthusiastic comments and responsibility of the overseas Vietnamese community is spreading strongly, when the draft documents to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress are announced to collect public opinions.
With more than six million Vietnamese living in more than 130 countries and territories, overseas Vietnamese are considered "an inseparable part of the nation", an important resource contributing to national strength in the period of deep integration.
Convergence of endogenous and exogenous strength
The draft documents of the 14th National Congress affirm that culture and people are the foundation and driving force for sustainable development. According to journalist Kieu Bich Huong, who is living in Belgium, the five keywords that clearly demonstrate this spirit are “preserve - connect - contribute - support - sustain”, converging the endogenous and exogenous strengths of the Vietnamese community abroad.
To gather that strength, Ms. Huong believes that Vietnamese people living far from home can become "cultural ambassadors" spreading national identity through language, cuisine , customs and lifestyle.
Many community activities are demonstrating that soft power, such as Vietnamese Cultural Weeks at European schools, Tet and Mid-Autumn Festivals, traditional art clubs, the "Vietnamese Bookshelf" project, "Giving Vietnamese books to foreign libraries", or bilingual media channels and overseas influencers helping the young generation of Vietnamese origin find their roots.

Spreading the strength of solidarity and national spirit
The draft documents of the 14th Congress clearly state the goal of arousing the nation's strong aspiration to rise up.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Anh, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka, Japan, believes that today's young generation of overseas Vietnamese has a double advantage, being educated in a modern international environment but still imbued with Vietnamese roots. They are the natural bridge between the homeland and the world, a valuable resource in the process of integration and development of the country. According to him, to arouse and promote the desire to contribute, Vietnam needs to expand practical programs in the homeland such as exchange semesters, startup summer camps, volunteer projects, applied research or professional exchanges for overseas Vietnamese youth.
These programs not only help the young generation understand more deeply about Vietnamese culture and people, but also create opportunities for them to participate in innovative and sustainable development projects, thereby connecting with and making long-term contributions to the country.
He shared: “I have met many young Vietnamese people in Japan who, after participating in educational and technology projects in Vietnam, have become young ambassadors spreading the image of a dynamic, creative and integrated Vietnam. From that experience, they find national pride and the desire to accompany their homeland.”
According to him, in addition to arousing that aspiration, there needs to be a mechanism for regular dialogue between leaders and the overseas Vietnamese community, not only during holidays but also at professional forums, so that the voices of intellectuals, businessmen and overseas Vietnamese youth can be heard and responded to promptly.
At the same time, we should promote the role of professional social organizations such as the Association of Vietnamese in other countries, the Overseas Intellectuals Network, the Global Vietnamese Language Teaching Network, etc. as "soft bridges" in people-to-people diplomacy.
The Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka believes that when each Vietnamese person abroad feels trusted, listened to and has the opportunity to contribute, the strength of national solidarity is naturally nurtured, becoming a sustainable resource, helping Vietnam to rise strongly and shine in the international arena.

In Laos, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, Principal of Nguyen Du Lao-Vietnamese Bilingual School, believes that the young generation of Vietnamese in Laos is a valuable bridge to preserve the good feelings between the two countries. According to her, it is necessary to foster love for the homeland and national pride through learning Vietnamese, learning about the history, culture and fine traditions of Vietnam. Schools and the Vietnamese Association in Laos should regularly organize cultural and educational activities such as Vietnamese Summer Camp, cultural festivals, and competitions to learn about the country, helping children understand more deeply about their roots and appreciate national values. Maintaining the Vietnamese language in families, schools and communities is the foundation to preserve the Vietnamese soul for future generations.
In addition, expanding opportunities for exchange, study and practical experience in Vietnam through exchange, research, start-up or community volunteer programs not only helps the young generation learn modern knowledge and skills, but also creates opportunities for them to directly contribute to the country's development, connecting more deeply with their homeland through concrete actions.
Every young overseas Vietnamese needs to nurture the spirit of turning towards the Fatherland, clearly defining their responsibilities and aspirations to contribute. When they are both proud of their Vietnamese roots and active in international integration, they will become “cultural ambassadors”, spreading the image of a friendly, dynamic, and unique Vietnam and increasingly affirming the position of Vietnamese people in Laos as well as in the region, as Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong wished.
Bridge the private economic development strategy
The Party and State identify the private economy as one of the important driving forces of the economy, clearly demonstrated in Resolution 68 and draft documents of the 14th Congress.

According to Dr. Tran Hai Linh, Chairman of the Vietnam-Korea Business and Investment Association, the large number of overseas Vietnamese businessmen, intellectuals and experts is a strategic resource contributing to the development of Vietnam's private economic sector.
First of all, overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs can help improve the competitiveness of domestic enterprises through market connections, sharing management experiences and standardizing operations according to international standards. They understand Vietnam’s strengths and at the same time grasp the trends and requirements of the global market.
Second, this force can promote technology transfer, digital transformation and green development. Many overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs operate in key areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, new energy, automation, cyber security... If given favorable conditions, they will help Vietnam narrow the technology gap and participate more deeply in the global value chain.
Third, overseas Vietnamese play an important role in developing the innovative startup ecosystem. They not only bring capital, but also management knowledge, new growth models, and international networks, helping Vietnamese startups reach regional and global levels.
Finally, overseas Vietnamese businessmen can participate more deeply in domestic value chains, especially in industries where Vietnam has advantages such as manufacturing and processing industry, logistics, e-commerce, high-tech agriculture, and high-quality tourism services.
Dr. Tran Hai Linh affirmed that it is important to have a stable investment environment, transparent support policies and a clear mechanism to protect private investors. At that time, the overseas business community with its patriotism and dedication will become a strategic bridge, contributing to realizing the goal of making Vietnam a developed country by 2045, with many private enterprises reaching the world level.
It can be seen that overseas Vietnamese actively contributing ideas to the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and unity towards the Fatherland. Their suggestions and recommendations demonstrate their belief in the Party and the path of national development, and at the same time demonstrate the strength of the spirit of great national unity of the Vietnamese people.
