After 9 intense matches on the morning of November 15, Le Tuan Minh - the only representative of Vietnam at the tournament, won 8/9 absolute points (7 wins, 2 draws, 0 losses) to be crowned champion of the rapid chess event.
Although the tournament was absent from many top Asian stars such as Le Quang Liem, Wei Yi, or Gukesh Dommaraju due to the World Chess Cup schedule, Tuan Minh's victory was still very convincing.
He excellently defeated two Grandmasters, Susanto Megaranto and Dai Thuong Nhan (China). At the same time, he tied with Tin Jingyao (Singapore, won bronze medal) and Novendra Priasmoro (Indonesia).
This victory further strengthens the position of Tuan Minh, who is known as an expert in rapid and blitz chess online. His official international Elo does not fully reflect his ability.
Previously, at the 2024 Olympiad, Grandmaster Le Tuan Minh participated in this major tournament for the first time and caused a stir when he was undefeated in all 11 games. He defeated two Super Grandmasters and won the Bronze Medal in individual board 3 with an efficiency of 2.795—a performance level equivalent to the top 5 in the world .
The first Asian Mind Games 2025 will take place in Singapore from November 13 to 15, featuring five intellectual events. Chess will be contested in two categories: rapid chess (15 minutes plus 10 seconds) and blitz chess (5 minutes plus 3 seconds).
With this impressive opening achievement, Le Tuan Minh promises to bring more glory to the Vietnamese intellectual sports delegation in the upcoming blitz chess event.
