Karatedo Ho Chi Minh City launched after merging 3 localities

Mr. Vu Viet Bao was elected as the first President of the Ho Chi Minh City Karatedo Federation (term 2025-2030) after the Congress to unify the movements of the three localities.

On the morning of November 15, the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Karatedo Federation (term 2025-2030) took place in an atmosphere of solidarity, responsibility and expectation.

After the local merger, the congress was an opportunity to unify the karate movement in Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong (old) under the direction of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the merger and conversion of mass associations.

The Congress has listed some outstanding results of activities in the period 2021-2025. In particular, the number of regular practitioners has grown steadily over the years.

Of which, region 1 (HCMC) has about 107 clubs (nearly 8,500 martial artists), region 2 ( Binh Duong ) has 51 clubs (nearly 1,203 martial artists), region 3 (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) has 10 clubs (1,610 martial artists).

In addition, the federation regularly organizes training courses and refresher courses for coaches, referees and instructors.

The congress unanimously elected 29 members of the Executive Committee. Mr. Vu Viet Bao - Chairman of the Council of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Sports - was elected as the President of the Federation. Previously, Mr. Bao was the President of the Ho Chi Minh City Karatedo Federation (old).

In addition, Mr. Nguyen Viet Long - Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - assumed the position of Honorary Chairman.

The seven Vice Presidents are Mr. Doan Quoc Tuan, Mr. Le Van Be Hai, Mr. Vu Van Hue , Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu, Mr. Doan Cong Tien, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Giau, and Mr. Trinh Ngoc Hoang.

Meanwhile, Ms. Huynh Thi Ngoc Phuong, in charge of karate in Ho Chi Minh City, was elected to hold the position of General Secretary of the federation.

Speaking at the congress, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Nam Nhan hoped that the new-look Ho Chi Minh City Karatedo Federation would promote its inherent strengths, while taking advantage of resources in all three regions to create a breakthrough, as well as spread the movement widely.

The Executive Committee for the 2025-2030 term expressed its determination to strongly develop Ho Chi Minh City karate in the coming time, aiming to build a clean, strong, professional and united federation.

The Ho Chi Minh City Karatedo Federation said it is promoting the development of the movement among students and teenagers, creating a foundation for discovering, selecting and developing additional talents for the city's national teams.
