Through inspection, units under the Department of Construction discovered that at Km112+200 National Highway 24, the road surface was raised about 1.2m high, with cracks 100m long, only ensuring traffic on half of the road surface. The width of the road surface raised from the foot of the embankment was about 5.5m, narrowing the lane and posing a risk to traffic safety, especially for trucks and passenger cars traveling at high speed.
National Highway 24 is a vital traffic route, connecting the center of Quang Ngai province, Dung Quat port, National Highway 1 with Ho Chi Minh road and the northern region of the Central Highlands, and the southern provinces of Laos. The daily traffic volume on the route is very large, especially cargo trucks.
The Department of Construction of Quang Ngai province has directed its affiliated units to urgently deploy remedial measures, put up warning signs, regulate traffic and reinforce damaged areas to ensure safety for people and vehicles.
