On November 15, in An Giang province, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with the People's Committees of An Giang, Dong Thap provinces and Can Tho city to organize fish seed release activities to restore and supplement aquatic resources in the Mekong Delta region.

This event was attended by representatives of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, leaders of the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Control, along with agencies, departments, branches, organizations, leaders of wards and communes, businesses, sponsors and people in the area.
During this period, 215,500 aquatic animals were released into the environment, including species such as giant barb, giant catfish, toadfish, silver carp, dolphins, giant freshwater prawns... This activity received support from more than 20 organizations and individuals, with a total amount of nearly 390 million VND.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the three provinces of An Giang, Dong Thap and Can Tho City have coordinated to organize a movement to release fish into the natural environment. Up to now, this movement has been vigorously implemented in many wards and communes in the above localities.

According to the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), the release of additional fish fry is an annual activity of these localities. The objective of this activity is to supplement a number of native aquatic breeds and species, especially rare species and breeds with scientific and economic value that are declining, thereby contributing to the regeneration and restoration of resources, diversifying aquatic breeds and species in natural waters of the Mekong Delta basin.
Over the past 4 years, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has presided over and coordinated with the three provinces of An Giang, Can Tho, and Dong Thap to organize the inter-provincial fish seed release activity to restore aquatic resources with a total of more than 2.5 million fish seeds, equivalent to more than 20 tons of fish released into the Hau and Tien rivers. Among them are many endangered, precious, rare aquatic species with economic value, contributing to the restoration and regeneration of aquatic resources in the Mekong Delta waters such as: giant catfish, flagfish, oil-fish, et moi, sesame, that lat, chach lau, night-dwelling fish, he, sesame... The total budget mobilized for this activity is nearly 3 billion VND, with socialized sources accounting for 70%.

This aquatic resource regeneration activity has always received the attention and close direction of the leaders of the People's Committees of the three provinces, along with the active participation of departments, branches, sectors, unions, organizations, individuals, monks, Buddhists and people. The contributions of agencies, organizations, individuals, businesses and philanthropists have brought great benefits, contributing to the conservation of biodiversity in the Mekong Delta, especially contributing to raising people's awareness in protecting and helping to regenerate aquatic resources.
